Inspired by my friend Crom's thread about Death Valley https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/death-valley-off-road-adventures.60777/ I've decided to start a specific thread about the Owens Valley and HWY 395. The Death Valley thread is a wealth of information in itself.

My relationship with Owens Valley began in 1999 during a backpacking trip from Onion Valley to Kearsarge Pass. I fell in love with the area and since then have done many trips. No one photo can encapsulate the area.

Feel free to post sites and information. Be aware that it is quite easy to find locations in photographs given enough geographical information. That being said, if you have a special place that isn't overrun with people it may be in the future. I'll do my best to update any information people want in this first post.

Some recent information I discovered was regarding firewood and propane in Bishop. For propane fills you can get them at Ace Hardware or Allen Outdoor Products. All these years I've seen the red horse out front but never investigated it. Friendly people and open 7 days/week.

One of my favorite photos was on a trip home from DV; my first time crossing the Inyos into Owens Valley.

I love the whole eastern Sierras. I just need a plated dirt bike to make my dream come true.I want to try and ride the 395 on as much dirt as possible.

I was at a spot not too far from that one last week. The spot you show was already taken but I could see the vehicle. If you were there tucked in I wouldn't have seen you until I was in the turn around.

For years I have never had a problem getting to that spot without worrying about it already being taking, until about the last year - year and a half. And Im still disappointed that slab bench is no longer there.
