So I spent last week in Texas and picked these up from another TW member. He had em on his 2016 trd OR 4x4, and when he tried to put them on my truck it wouldn't work, because apparently my frame didnt have one or two of the holes for the bolts. Anyone know if this is because of my exact trim or model or are these sliders only meant for 2016 models? Here's some shit pics I took in a hurry

a lot of bad ass stuff
Im thinking It shouldn't matter if its going from a third gen to a third gen 5ft bed to a 5 ft bed

only thing I can think of, is I know with my RCI sliders for my 2nd gen, theire were more holes in the sliders than in my frame, in which one could drill into their frame to better mount for more support. Could this be the case?

Apparently some holes changed through the model run. My SOS sliders warned of that and there are more holes to mount in them than there are in the frame.

That's what I had thought, especially when buying sliders most of the time it'll only separate them by generation, and both our trucks are the same except for his is 2016, mine is 2017. and I have a 2wd unlike his 4x4.

You're probably right. When I looked at his frame it had more holes than on my truck. Well I guess I'll just sell em and try to recoup the funds :(

Why not just drill out the holes?

    Same crap everyone else got
Or you can find a shop to just weld them on.

    Yes
I’d run what bolts you can and weld the rest. Even if the bolt holes did line up, there isn’t enough support when bolted on to prevent those from bending upwards if really using them as a slider.

My sliders have 4 supports and a much larger backing plate to bolt to the frame, however I still have them tack welded because I noticed they were flexing into the pinch welds when slamming off obstacles and the full weight of the truck was on them

That's what the original plan was, but when I took it to a guy to do it he quoted me like $350 to drill the holes then weld a nut on the other side so I can use the other bolts. I only paid $300 for the sliders tho, rather not have to go pay another $350 to use em.
Probably charge me more than I'd wanna pay for the job though, plus will be a pain in the ass and costly if I ever need to remove em and get something else.

You can drill the holes your self and you don't need to weld a nut to the other side.

Fr?? I'm gonna give it a shot this weekend then. The guy I took it to made it seem like a 6hr job, and a lot harder than it sounded to me too... I'm sure it'll take some time to get through the frame but not 6hrs worth of time o_O

It will take a while b/c it's a big hole and thick material and your drilling sideways and not down so it's more of a pain to get pressure behind the drill. How many of the 4 holes on each slider did not line up or were missing?

Yeah I'll have to do it in sessions so I can get more strength to keep applying pressure lol. The guy who sold em to me said I should just need one on each side, so 2 total. The guy at the shop I took it to said I would need 2 on each side though :notsure:

That shop was trying to take advantage of you. That price is insane. Even welding them shouldn't be nearly that cost.

It'd be probably an hour of time in the driveway for me to do it. If it wasn't COVID times, I'd offer to help out since you're closeby. Should be easy.

Slow speed on the drill, use some oil, then hit the holes with some primer when you're done. These frames get rusty enough without our help.

I will say that's not a lot of mounting points for sliders though. Don't drop the truck on them.

I would buy better slider due to the lack of mounting holes for sure!

Once I'm back in GA I'll be helping out with the welding stuff but that won't be until after April :anonymous:

I dunno, but $350 seems pretty steep for that much work. I could see if there was more fabrication but for what work you just said, I’m feelin’ it’s kinda pricey.
