What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

that's exactly what I want to do with my 03 DC. I think that will protect the lower quarter panels really well. thinking about doing it on the bed also.All it takes is time and money.

 

This is going to sound bad BUT, after two years this spark plug finally came out. When I replaced the spark plugs last 5 of the 6 came out just fine, where as this one felt like it got cross threaded/galled up when I was removing it. So at the time I just snugged it back in.

Fast forward to last night and it finally happened. P0302 cylinder 2 misfire.

Was looking at timeserts last night and decided to wait and see what comes of this. Went out sprayed a little PB Blast and she backed right out. Took a new plug, screwed in and back out no problem.

That’s been a cause of stress for too long. Glad I didn’t have to use that sert.

Have new plugs on the way.

It’s ok to know your limitations, especially on things that can become expensive quickly if you screw them up.

 

Hopefully the electrode is just warn down and didn't break off?

Just doing the rocker panels would be cheap. You could easily do it in a day if there’s no body work to do.

 

The threadserts aren't that big a deal. I used the Helicoil brand, installed last year after #4 decided to depart the engine, going through the coil. Worked like a champ, just takes a while and involved a lot of greasing the tap, cleaning the grease, repeat.

 

Long time lurker first time post. I just wanted to give a big thanks to everyone who contributes on the forums. There is a wealth of knowledge and wisdom here that I’ve used lately. I just replaced my upper and lower balm joints, wheel bearings, outer tie rod ends and cv axels. I have a list of more things to do and I’ll try to keep up with posting the progress. Thanks again!

Since I mentioned (was asking questions about) LED/HID upgrades earlier, here's my before/after photos of the light output. Definitely a lot brighter with the new "bulbs."

Process was reasonably straight forward, and we'll see how my reservations about the LEDs pan out... LED / HID installation.

Original low beams. Bleh.​

Picked this up for $400 today, can’t wait to get it installed!

 

Electrode was completely worn down. I’m glad it didn’t break off.

Ive done helicoil before, just not on something as critical as, a spark plug with the head on. I’m just glad I didn’t have to pay for the kit or even have to attempt it.

Looks great. What steered you in this direction (besides @Blackdawg) instead of the harness that @crashnburn80 used?

 

I would double check what plugs you need, because I think you need something like this. I have an 03 DC V6 and these are the type of plugs truck required.

 

Explain this for us simple minded old people.
