It will tow it just fine on the flatlands. If you live or plan on towing in the mountains either buy a pop up camper or a full-size truck. For mountains I mean both Ranges

someone in the keystone forum suggested this is not going to work.

"Short answer, no. You will be over your payload.

    6300 trailer GVWR * .13 = 819 lbs Tongue Weight.
    WDH = 100 lbs

That leaves you 71 lbs of payload remaining before you even get in the truck.

Didn't you ask a similar question several days ago? The math never changes. Trailer GVWR * 13%, + 100 for hitch + everything else in the truck (people and gear) cannot exceed payload capacity."

"It depends. Not to be a downer but, With a payload (Capacity of occupants and cargo) of 990lbs probably not. When figuring your trailer weight always go by the shipping weight plus the carrying capacity as you will have gear in it, propane, water (8lbs a gallon) batteries etc.... In your case 6300LBS. Already over your tow rating on the truck. The most important number is payload though. 990- the 630 (10% of your trailer weight when loaded). Only leaves you 360 lbs of room, and the is with no passengers or gear (bikes, generator, etc..).

So you need to figure the weight of all your passengers and gear and see if that exceeds the 360lbs."

    please advise..

It will tow it, I hope it has a decent brake system.
(If it’s an Auto. Let the engine do the work, not the Trans)

FWIW, I feel these trucks are a bit over rated on Towing Capacity.
That’s my opinion. And it isn’t worth much.

No and don't let anyone box you into buying a Tacoma. It's like someone trying to talk someone into the marrying the wrong spouse.

I believe he already “married” the Tacoma.
Now, he has to live with it.
It should tow it. It won’t be fun.

I’d be looking at a divorce if I were in that situation.
Or just don’t marry the boat too?

the issues is here. i already got a tacoma and in searching for a trailer . that mean i can only get trailer that is 21" and weight around 3500lbs - 3800lbs. anything more it'll be over kill. After the lease is over i'm going to get a tundra. So my issues is getting a 21" trailer with no room to grow. or just get the 25" trailer with room to grow and upgrade to a tundra. problem solved..

If you are set on a Tundra, get the Tundra.
Only thing I have against them is the MPG and lack of Engine/Rear gear Options.

Until Toyota decides to “update the drivetrain” in the Tundra, I’d probably go Ford or Ram.

My brother had the Ram 5.7 with 8 speed Trans and 3.92 gears.
    He gets 16.5 MPG.
Pulls 7.2k over the Tennessee foothills just fine.

I have driven the Ford, but have not towed with it.

You could tow with it, but I think the experience is going to be miserable at best

i will look into the ford and ram .. get more MPG. RAM is the best for MPG. Anway i need to make an decision. becuase I still have 2 1/2 year left before I get my tundra. so for now should i just purchase the trailer that is 25" with 4126lbs and just tow it for now.. suffer for 2 1/2 year and maybe just go places where its easy to drive and flat land. after lease over get a RAM and pull this this? good ideas?

or should i just get a smaller trailer 21" with a weight of 3500lbs?

    please advise.

    That's a tough call.
Personally? I like to bring a gun to a knife fight, so I don't want to be towing over or even remotely close to max once,,, let alone for another 2.5 years.

    I Have to be honest.
I have owned 1 boat. And I don’t plan to ever own another one.
So, I can’t help you there.

I’d probably go for the cheaper one.
That way you loose less money on it later.

Sorry.....I really can’t give you the advice you want here

It's most likely this trailer when loaded will exceed the GVWR, max tongue weight, & payload capacity of the truck. If anything goes wrong & someone gets hurt, the insurance company is going to roast him.
The retailer of the trailer should be able & willing to properly size a trailer for your truck.

This past summer I purchased this trailer for my 2016 Tacoma Sport.

It's well within the documented capacity of my truck. I can say that in any conditions other than level highway, my truck is on it's knees pulling it. I'm looking at replacing it with a V8.

Wow and that dryweight is around 3000lbs. with all the weight loaded you are looking around 4000lbs - 4500lbs. that alone you still have issues.. so my guess is 3500lbs is just around right for me..

where did you purchase your rv? is it from rvusa website or some local dealer? to get the cheapest price.

I wouldn't contemplate it, even on the flats it would be, at the least a very miserable drive, and at the worst, downright dangerous. Maximum towing capacity of your truck is 6,700 lbs, but the recommended maximum travel trailer weight should be no more than 3,400 to 3,740 lbs, fully loaded weight including gear and liquids. The Tacoma maximum payload capacity is 1,420 lbs. The trailer you are looking at has GVWR of 6,300 lbs and a tongue weight of 425 lbs, that hitch weight can increase quickly with water, propane, and gear, then add your truck fuel, gear, and passenger weight. With all this in mind, picture yourself on a blustery day with even mild hills, it's not a pretty picture. Don't be that guy and endanger the lives of your family and yourself, it's just not worth the risk.
