I remember wheeling a few years ago and some guy came up and was complimenting my truck. Compressor kept going off and he told me "wtf is up with that? Shouldn't be doing that man". It worked fine then..... Not so much now. Ever since i bent a rear axle nd i got a junk yard replacement axle it hasnt been the same

Anything over 5 minutes is "normal". I'd have to see a vid of you starting your truck in the morning with both the compressor and locker switch on to believe it holds air overnight. Nobody I wheel with has a system that is that leak free. I get about 10 minutes before mine cycles and that's pretty damn good. lol

Get a spray bottle and fill it with a tablespoon of dish soap and water. Spray the line from the compressor all the way to the bulkhead fitting. If it's leaking it will bubble.

Yeah, my reading comprehension sucked on that one. What I'm saying is anything over 5 minutes is fine. Get a spray bottle and go to town on the air lines from the comp to the bulkhead.

Say what you want. If you plumb the lines right with good connections and no leaks there’s no reason it should leak. If I leave my compressor on and lockers on they will stay and compressor won’t cycle. I can get 3 or 4 locks before the compressor cycles as well and it’s just the small one meant for lockers. But go look at my build. I don’t exactly just settle for good enough lol. I make sure it’s done right so I have no issues lol.

my dads tj also has air lockers and his is even better since his air lines are shorter runs and never cycles as well

Of course I've looked at your build. My lines are plumbed by me. They are tight and leak free. If I remove the air lines from the bulk heads and cap them I loose zero pressure overnight. The air loss is from the locker itself. I don't know anyone that can leave their locker locked and start the truck in the morning without the compressor cycling. The seals in the seal housing just leak by. I'm not saying it's not possible for the locker to hold air forever I'm just saying I've never seen it. lol

Could be a bad solder around the copper tube to the seal collar. My first 9 in diff sucked the solder into the copper making it hold pressure but wouldn’t lock. Redid it again and no issues. Something to look at if you ever tear into it but as long as it locks doesn’t really matter

I’d start at the compressor, check all the air lines to the axle. Check the fitting on the third. If it’s not there pull the third and bench test it. Hook the air line back up and check for leaks in the copper and around the seal collar

So shop is going to rip into the rear again and check it out. I want to go play for new years day first. Also, not sure who i asked but yes you can shift on the fly from 2wd to 4wd with the CB. I gave it a go as i got closer to pavement. Lol. Just in case... Smooth as melted butter

That would be me. I know it's possible, but I just don't recommend it. :notsure:

Hopefully this time your shop can figure out what's going on with your rear locker.

I asked a few others too and they weren't sure. I said "fuck it" (not recommended to say fuck it 2 hours away from home...lol) but it works with my setup. All other shifts with the crawlbox are done in neutral.

Yea man. Hope they do me right. I'll keep the norcal fam updated

I’ve doing it for years. Blip the throttle and tap the shifter. No grinding and shifts super smooth especially when everything is bound up or under stress. Most times I can’t get it to shift any other way when on the red rocks either.

Low to high and back gear change is done in neutral though

Interesting. I wasn't sure if it was causing any unnecessary stress to anything. Good to know.

....and this is why I have absolutely zero regrets on ditching my ARB for a lunchbox locker. More of them seem to leak than not

Sounds a lot like shifting on a motorcycle with out pulling the clutch lever.
