And finally after sitting on my living room floor for a year and a half, I finally got the dang winch installed. Yeah the grille is kinda butchered and the Toyota emblem is now a Sombrero (I'm calling it the Sombrero Edition), but I might eventually cut the rest of it out and Satoshi it.

Well, I guess it's past time to announce, the OGT is under new ownership. Times are tough and I had to cut her loose even though I thought when I got her, we'd part ways when she went to the junk yard or I went to the graveyard. However when it came down to my T4R or the OGT...well, the T4R suited my needs better (throwing my rifles and range gear in the back and have it locked up out of the weather) and is just plain more comfortable. She seduced me away from the OGT which now belongs to a fellow TW member @michaelrussell .

dents and missing bits, built in the Gravel garage, hillbilly trained mechanic…

Nice build, 98 is the bomb, before everything started to get too high tech. I am late to your thread, but if you haven’t already thought of it, you could try lift shackles to gain some extra height. I went with the 883s and Bilstein 5100 on zero for my rig, as the ARB bull bumper was in the cards and some day a winch as well. Can’t say if the rear would be too stiff with the AAL, I have never run empty for very long, I also went with the Bilstein 5125s. I suspect it would be a bit rough on washboards but that might be solved with mega buck coil overs, etc.... The beauty of the OME Dakars is that they are smooth yet keep the wheels on the ground. Of course I’m not a muddier, mostly desert wheeling, gravel roads and what passes for highways up here- kinda like a paved motocross track.

first full day with the truck, notice totally hammered suspension with strap shackle extensions:CE2B39E1-148E-40A8-B8E4-E89CA7F9A2F3.jpg

Almost current setup with 16 x 8 Tundra rims- on the way to work, so about 250-300# on board:A40EFE40-7BEB-49AB-B352-4CEE2AC8D482.jpg

I don’t foresee any major changes until I can get a wedge topper then I might go with a custom spring pack.

Keep it going, your build will be even sweeter as it becomes closer to ‘finished’

Haha, thank you. I came within a high clearance rear bumper of having it "finished", but read the post just above above yours.
