I don't see any difference between the 120 and 240 , except when watching hockey , maybe something about the stark contrast between the white ice and the players , I don't know , but it does make a difference .

Maybe not in baseball or football , those sports move so slowly you could probably get away with 30 Hz .:p

SONY is way overpriced and no better quality than any other major TV brand IMO. I have two Samsung LCD flat panels and a VIZIO and love all three. For the money, I think a VIZIO is a very good choice.

I have had three Sonys all I would buy in the past, as good as they are I bought my first Vizio & think the quality is just as good for allot less money.

Yeah, they just had that sale and are going to do it again. Didn't know that was in the price range but I would look at this option. Same with the 240hz, and yes, OZ-T is right, the biggest difference is watching hockey, I don't see any problems with football or others, but hockey you want a higher refresh rate.

Thats common for LCD/PLASMA/DLP Tvs, not sure about the new LEDs but I would imagine the same.

just bought a LG LED-LCD myself... it's the 47LE5400 and it's pretty nice. Bought it in anticipation of Gran Turismo 5.

I Had an older Xbox 360.. the TV deal was smoking. Got the TV and a new 260gb 360s w/ Black Ops for $1299. TV Retails for $1699. Sold the old Xbox for 150..

I have two Sony bravias lcd's and the picture is as good as any set I have seen. I think direct tv gives a better picture than time warner cable.

I got a Panasonic Plasma TV last year. This picture is amazing except when the room is pretty bright, then it gets hard to see darker shades. One thing to consider with the internet capable TVs is the services offfered by each manufacturer. For example, my TV has Amazon on demand (or whatever it is called) instead of Netflix. If I had Netflix, I would stream movies, but Amazon is kinda crappy for that. I think Samsung offers Netflix.

Plasma is a great option for sports because the sets run at 600Hz .

The TVs will go on sale again, don't worry about that.

There are some ups and downs to plasma and LCD, plasma have deep blacks and richer colors but get screen burn easier (and usually more pricey for comparitive TVs). LCDs are better in a lit room and last longer, but aren't as vibrant of colors or black.

IMO, unless you are dead set on a flat panel TV, the best picture is on a DLP (note: I haven't done much comparing since LEDs have com out). DLP has the only true black, extremely crisp pictures and colors, the problem is they aren't flat panel, but my dad's 82" is just over a foot thick. The biggest plus to these is you can get a lot more for the price, however you are seeing fewer and fewer because the marketable thing is flat panel.

P.S. - I would still hold out for a bundled package no matter which TV you go with. Most electronics deals are best after the holidays.
