This is my first one. The model 4300. It's awesome but I shake so much so I am likely going to get the workstation drill press thing. I also got a Tacklife version for Xmas too. I wasn't sure which one I would like better. The Dremel has more attachments and less tools. The Tacklife has more tools and a flexible shaft attachment. I will probably keep both, and use them together.

My first task was to finish fitting my recently acquired antique axe heads to new handles. I am almost done with the first one and want to start the second one tonight.

Am I the only one that doesn't wear protective gear when working on stuff? Even when using my metal chop saw, no eyes, ears or hand gear...

I've seen some crazy injuries and known plenty of people with hearing loss from exposure to hand/power tools to not take a second to put on my ear plugs and safety glasses.

Or getting metal removed from your eye and having the rust scraped off. Not. Fun.

Saw a guy in the gym once get a tiny piece of metal in his eye from clanging the dumbbells together. Nasty infection ensued.

Yikes. I might start investing in hearing protection now. Unfortunately, for all the tools and equipment we have, hearing protection is not a thing we own.
I also do have glasses, so that kinda saves my eyes.
As for my hands, I never like wearing gloves, doesn't allow me to feel what I need to.

What's crazy is I had glasses and a face shield on when the metal got in. I didn't even realize it until my eye started hurting later that night. Now I wear goggles anytime I do any cutting or grinding. I don't want to have to go through that ever again.

Gloves can definitely be a pain sometimes since you lose dexterity.

I have tried to wear gloves for as long as I've been wrenching and I just can't do it. Even the latex variants. I'll start out wearing them, but I can guarantee by the time I'm done I've given up on them.

The other stuff? Wellllllll, my glasses are my safety glasses. And my hearing is already half gone. I'm good.

Gloves are the safety equipment I'm least likely to wear as well unless I'm using the angle grinder.

That's one I need to be better about. I have run that disc into my finger a billion times. It makes a perfect little divot. Funny part is that it doesn't really hurt while I'm doing it, so I'm just like doot dah doot, just grinding away here.

Grinder doesn't give a fuck about your gloves. I grind right through them. Haha. Same. It's the best injury, doesn't hurt till later and self cauterizing. Scars every time though. But that's how people know I'm a tough guy, right?

I was hoping that a burning glove would be a clue for me to stop grinding.

I show off all my scars. Every man should. Unless there's a shaving cut. On a leg.

They free handed getting the metal out with a little metal pick. Took them like 5 minutes of poking at my eye. Then a drill to scrape off the rust.

So what you're saying is that it was probably worse than LASIK and having your retina re-attached?

I’ll say a hard no to both procedures.
