Can you explain dropping the driver side of the 'bed"? Maybe you meant the "tank"? Glad that you had a good experience.

So Ive got a 17 that was purchased a month ago and Carfax never says anything of a dealer service recently other than oil change, but Toyota's site shows I'm in the clear for recalls.

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
My wife's 2019 RAV4 has the same recall.

I took it in for an oil & filter change (about 2 months ago) and the dealer dropped the fuel tank and pulled the fuel pump ... and then realized that had NO NEW FIX and NO NEW FUEL PUMP ... so they put it back together and told me that they may call me back later ... today I received a notice to have it checked again ... lol

Canadian here, Had mine done recently. They requested I bring it in with 1/4 tank (I brought it basically on E, lol) and that any snow be shoveled from the box. Crawled under the truck/checked the fuel door area in the dealer parking lot to make sure all was reassembled correctly and it was. No engine lights, Truck accelerates to high RPMS and holds a full tank without leaks so I'd safely say all went well. They said they may have the truck for the day but it took 3hrs exactly. I WILL report back after a few hundred KMs if there is any effect on how it drives, as the battery was disconnected for the service. Thankfully, no gas smell in cab, either.

Just got my notice from Toyota last night about the recall. Have an appointment on the 14th of Jan 2021 to get it replaced. We'll see how that goes.

You mean you got your first notice, or the second notice that tells you there is now a remedy?

Got the Notice from Toyota saying call and schedule your appointment. This was the first and only notice in writing I received from Toyota. Called today and they set it up for the 14th of Jan. They did tell me when I bought the truck back in July that there was a recall on it and I would be getting a notice. They are replacing the pump when I take it in.

Weird that a car manufacturer in the 21st century can’t install a reliable fuel pump.

I got the “Hey we got a recall goin’ on but shucks, we don’t have a solution yet, will notify ya when we do!” notice a few weeks ago. Meanwhile truck driving like a champ and really not looking forward to them messing with it.
That was an actual verbatim quote of the letter by the way. Kinda.

I wife had the recall done on her 2019 today along with the 20,000 mile oil change and tire rotation.

Honestly, its reliable, it has a low rate of failure, but its considered a safety concern if it fails so it's been addressed.

People need to be happy with recalls rather than complaining about them.

I went in for Toyota Care service. They didn't have the parts on hand. Scheduled an appointment for the following weekend. Drove in with 1/4 tank and they got it done in 4 hours.

I drove the shit out of it on the way home with no issues. It's been a few weeks and nothing has changed.

my truck hasn't had any issues before or after the recall service was performed.

Denso, a major Toyota supplier, built all the pumps wrong. Took them forever to fix the defect and now changing 5.5 million is probably a logistical nightmare for Toyota. Got mine changed in my 2019 no problems.

Toyota just released the remedy for the last Tacoma's added back in October so call your dealer and schedule an appointment.
