Put the nut back on and hit it with a metal hammer. It has added shock value. Do you have weight off the shock?

 

well i'll be damned. i remember those being a pain before i loosened the cams, but once i did that they just slid right out. what @boogie3478 said. impact hammer to be specific.

 

You have an impact wrench? Spin it from the head side to break it free. If not put the nut back on upside down almost flush with bolt and wack with mini sledge.

 

Getting ready to do shock relocate as well. So, with 3.5 BS you were rubbing when stuffed? So, with 0.75 boras added, you are now essentially 2.75 BS?

Installed this with the help of a buddy and his tools/lift. 887 coils, medium Dakar’s and Light racing UCAs.

Yeah with the 35s on 3.5" BS I rub the shock body when fully stuffed. And yep, with the .75" Bora spacers I guess I'm technically at 2.75" BS now.

Yep I've got an impact wrench its the only way I have gotten this far today haha. I have a big sledge and a dead blow I will give some of these suggestions after dinner thanks guys!

If you have any scraps of 2x4 or some other wood laying around use that as a buffer for the sledge and wail away.

 

Stupid question, but are you at full droop or is your jack lifting up the LCA?

Jacked the front end up and found the driver’s side bearings are bad. Called Detroit Axle for a warranty claim. They told me it would be $45 to ship the new hub assembly to me. That’s the cost for a “lifetime warranty” replacement. It cost me $150 14 months ago for both sides. I had to replace the passenger side in Sept. it cost $10 for shipping 3 months ago. I would not recommend Detroit Axle for anything! Both sides went out in 14 months and now they are trying to charge me 3/4 the price for a new order for just the shipping. Hell no! AVOID Detroit Axle at all cost everyone! Rant over!!

Yep LCA was all the way slack I had the jack under it while I was messing with other stuff. Its there but lower than the LCA

 

Hey guys. I have a quick question for both of you. I am currently running 275/70/17 on stock suspension and the TRD SEMA wheels (-21 mm offset). I was getting some rubbing with this set up but trimmed a bit of the wheel well and managed to get none afterwards. I am thinking about going to 285/70/17 tires (can get a really good deal on this size only) and was probably going to do a cab mount chop. Do you think I will run into any issues? Do either of you have new UCA to correct camber? Is that necessary in your experience to run the 33" tires. Any tips for me before I screw anything up or get in over my head?

FYI, I was ready to upgrade the suspension but had some extraordinary expenses pop up so I am putting it off for now. But I need new tires asap so I figure I will get the tires I really want now and upgrade the suspension when I can.

 

The situation we were talking about was for the rear suspension, but upgrading to aftermarket UCAs will help your truck get properly aligned if you are at 2.5"+ of lift in the front. A cab mount chop is generally a good idea if you are going to run 285 tires.

 

what made you go with yakima? vs any of the other brands (they look nice)..... I am researching options now.... thx-

 

Oh gotcha. Did you have issues in the rear with the 285s?
