It's a pita to get into the headliner, but I have my uniden cmx-760 up in the roof, and cut a hole for my mic to plug into between the map lights. I let it hang from a carabineer hooked to the rear view mirror arm. Or I can unplug the mic completely band stash it in the center arm rest console.

I was wondering if this spot would be missed otherwise was on the same boat with the rest of you. Generally having a passenger I am thinking either the lower junk space or side of either seat. Pretty awesome you have it that integrated @wrmathis

Is the driver-seat mount uncomfortable @DoulosXP?

Ha @Shadowhunter mines just a cheap Uniden. Hoping it does the trick went budget since 90% of runs I have went on haven’t had the comms to run it ha.

I am still trying to figure out if long term antenna mount is necessary. Pics of that would be great too lol. Feel free to message them so the thread doesn’t flood haha.

Just winged it. Ran the power and ground up the A-pillar and then the coax towards the back window and then down to a hole below the back window then on out to my antenna. Cut the hole between the map lights small and mm by mm got bigger until the plug was snug and then some super glue to make sure it wouldn't move.

Is the driver-seat mount uncomfortable @DoulosXP?

Not at all. Only time I notice it is when an alignment tech, that was taller than me, carelessly move the seat back causing the radio to slide with it (if you do this leave slack in the wiring). Otherwise love the location.

Edit* not sure why it didn’t quote properly.

Just make sure the antenna has a good ground, like real good. Box doesn’t need ground it’s just a safety in case lightning gets friendly with the antenna

This right here is the most important thing. A lot of people overlook it and waste time trying other things if they have issues with swr or tx/rx issues and 99% of the time it's grounding related.

Great information from everyone. Surprised so many people have CB yet I have never seen them used on the trail runs lol. It’s good to just have an oh shit radio regardless. Longer term will look into GMRS licensing too but I don’t want utility to remove all the comfort in my rig. Then again it’s a truck so is what it is lol.

it's been a long time since I was on a run and all or most had CB. Everyone has been on Baofengs lately. My CB is mainly just used for listening to truckers now.
