Buyer Beware: KTJO 4X4 Driver's Side Grab Handles w/ A Pillars, HUD, and Bowl Lights

I'm in to buy a few to help offset the cost.

 

What's the beta on the hardware we need? M6 U nut, but do we need longer M6 bolts too?

 

The bolt length has been OK, I think. The issue has been with the sizing of the U/J nut and an ancillary concern about the strength of the bolts given past experience with people snapping Chinese manufactured bolts while tightening.

 

Ah I see, so nut and bolt the same size, but with better reliability. Anyone know what length the bolt is? M6 x 1.00 right?

 

According to the written instructions posted on the KTJO site, they are two different lengths. Hopefully, one of the guys who have already received them can give us the lengths.

 

Well, woke up this morning to see that I got an email with my shipping notice! Basically, the label has been created. I guess that gives me time to go ahead and get replacement hardware now so I am ready to install once I do finally get it!

 

Dang. McMaster only sells a 50 pack of the bolts. They're not that expensive, but who wants 100 bolts? Lol. I'll probably just wait and go to Ace hardware.

 

Got my FedEx tracking number today. It’ll allegedly arrive next week.

Just finished watching the video - looks like he didn't have any problems with the U/J nut and his recommendation to use some tape to hold it in place was nice - and no bending of metal required and he obviously got one of the later boxes where the covers were checked/attached.

He did say it took him about an hour to get the bolts lined up and started. Ugh.

In any case, we can all hope for the right parts!

 

Wonder when he ordered his or if she gave him one to review? As I mentioned before, those of us with no response from her are screwed as the new orders will pour in now. We have all seen how they are treated vs the pre order guys.

 

The standard delivery method used by KT is Parcel Select. Most people didn’t even notice this. If you were one of the lucky few that got it shipped free, then thats how it was sent. If you paid for shipping, then you have the option for Priority Mail. Here in Hawaii, it it could take up to 3-4weeks to get here via Parcel Select, so I paid the extra $.75 for Priority to get it faster. My understanding of the difference is Parcel Select is shipped via Surface (Truck/Boat) and gets moved based on space availability and workload but Priority Mail gets shipped via Air and is gets moved at a higher priority. This gives Parcel Select the lowest priority and makes shipping times even longer during the holidays. Most e-commerce businesses dont use Parcel Select unless its sold on Ebay or some other similar platform, but again, nickel and dime action which saves a few cents, but affects customer service. Another SLOW service to Hawaii is FedEx Home Delivery. Just as bad as Parcel Select.

 

got my notice late last night. ordered back in May.

 

Despite my frustration with the ordering process (ie, wait time and seemingly disorganized fulfillment, etc) I am looking forward to getting this item. I am definitely going to go ahead and upgrade the hardware prior to install, though.

 

In the details of the video, he typed that he ordered from TacomaBeast.

 

Did he specifically say no bending of metal? He didn’t really give details on what he did in the course of an hour to get the screw in.

 

The supplied bolts, washers, and bushings are fine. I doubt you could find better replacements. Only the "J" nut needs to be replaced.

 

Seems like some people got the right J Nut included in their kit so best to wait and see.

 

According to my sales info, I paid $16.50 for USPS Priority Mail.

I messaged KTJO4 to "please" supply me with a Tracking# as its been 10 days and I still haven't recv'd the order(lol). I notice the shipment is not brown boxed. I could imagine a lot of 3rd Generation Tacoma Owners who handle the boxes and if the box was left in my garage they'd all be sizing it up at the very least. I can live with the wait, it's the unKnowns that's bothering me

USPS "Informed" Delivery is of no Help either. Geezsus Christ so much negativity going thru this. The more KTJO4 makes me wait the more joy I'll have when I rec'v the darn grab handle

 

No. You only need one, and they're 57 cents at Ace. Indeed, the one at Ace is superior for this application, since it self-clips in place. No bending required.
