Just heard the WHAP of a bullet impact quickly followed by the report of the rifle way out in the woods across the road in front of this house at 5:50pm. Somebody's got meat on the ground. This crew was just here too eating corn. That's the matriarchal doe up front, she's almost tame, been coming into this yard for years. Okay, the others are pretty much tame too. Those are her kids from over the years, a couple are her grandkids. They adopted us, and steadfastly guard our yard and the corn in it as their territory, running off other deer who would presume to eat at their table. Four nubbin' bucks among the five youngsters. For four years she and her daughters did not have a single buck, all girls. Then for two years they have had twin boys born. It's gonna' get exciting around here for the next few years!

I musta been a very good ( or very naughty) boy this year. "She Who Must be Obeyed" musta been snooping at my elk gearlist. Another bugle tube, First Lite base layers and a Sig rangefinder. The base layers and rangefinder get their first work out tomorrow morning. PA flintlock season!

Snow camo! Only a few days left! Seeing deer almost every evening..this blind is very small to draw back bow without being detected by deer

Well. I got home from work a few weeks early and was able to sneak a 4 day hunt in on public in Texas. They are in rut and mostly at night with the moon. So...I hunted all day each day accept Christmas. Only really evening movement and a few rare ones in the morning. Did have a nice maybe 3 or 4 year old come in following does but he saw me as I saw him. Last day I had to hunt , last hour after seeing nothing. I moved forward cause I had heard some moving near. Set up 100 yards ahead. Sat 10 minutes and this guy gave me a 30 yard shot. 50 yard track job. Double lung and pass through with my 550 gn arrow. Really happy to finally shoot a buck on this property.

Nice buck! What part of Texas? I was holding out hope to make it to my land in time to catch the tail end of the season but thats certainly not happening now. Hoping for an end of the month pig "cleansing" from my property

Hey guys. Been lurking for a few months in the hopes I'd be able to join the discussion after Christmas, and wouldn't you know it? I was good enough to have a Bowtech Convergence dropped off for me by Santa.

Along with that I also got a $100 Bass Pro gift card. I was wondering if there was anything the experts on TW suggest I pick up for my bow with that card. I don't have anything else but the bow and a case.

I'm willing to spend more than the $100 if need be.
