Hey all, im having this problem, and I cant find any suggestions to fix it. A toyota tech said it may be a synchro. Any suggestions appreciated.

I have a feeling you're going to have to be more specific / descriptive of your issue

The speed limiter senses the trans output shaft for some weird reason.

    vF Tuner can correct that.

He has 5.29 gears installed and now his truck hits the speed governor at only 82 mph. For some reason the 3rd gens have problems with 5.29 gears and hitting the speed limiter.

Yeah, so far OVTune seems to have made some progress with it but I haven’t followed it much since I don’t have 5.29s and I don’t really plan on getting them

No, in the end OVTune basically said they wouldn’t do it because it would require removing the overall vehicle speed limiter. Apparently it’s easy in VFTuner but the taco is gone now so not something I’ll ever end up looking into. Now I’m playing the OVTune waiting game for a 2021 Tundra tune pack. Luckily the Tundra doesn’t really need it. If I didn’t already have the VFT credits I probably wouldn’t tune it.

I can fill up once BI-weekly (payday - mostly because I prefer to keep my truck above 1/2 full ) I drive a fantastical 16 mile round trip to work so I can drive as little as 120miles or so just for work. if I do nothing but work I could make it 4-5 weeks if I had to. but I do enjoy my skinny pedal... and I typically work 2-3 days a week of OT.

What size tires are you running? I just did a test today while visiting my parents and the truck governs out at 92mph for me.

That might be part of the issue 33's might be a little short for 5.29
