Ah yeah I know where that is. Used to be one of my favorite mx tracks to ride when I lived down there. But dang it’s a haul from up here lol. Still, if we made a wheeling weekend out of it it could be fun.

 

Everything back to stock PCV to SCer, coolant to TB. Clear P2111 code. Disconnect Neg lead on battery set for 2hrs. connect, Start let idle, warm-up. Min later code comes up back to Limp mode.

 

Need you to do something. Pull off the intake tube. Observe throttle position. Turn truck to ON position. Observe. Note any changes.

Have someone depress the throttle pedal while you watch. Slowly. Full open to full close. Make sure it operates properly.

Then inspect the plug and wires.

 

So ON position, not RUN. to check TB position.

 

Do that first before checking in the RUN state.

Keep the MAF plugged in to reduce the chance of another CEL.

 

Again, what the heck is a P2111? We need the code description or we can't help you bro.

 

faulty throttle body, or throttle plate stuck open

 

Pretty sure that's a Throttle Actuator Control System code indicating a stuck open condition.

EDIT: @Amo-cat3 and I were typing the same thing at the same time.

 

Ahh... Yeah, as Tor indicated it is probably best to remove the intake tubing and watch the blade as the throttle is depressed.

Rare that throttle bodies fail on these trucks, but they are electronics after all and this is an imperfect world. I am curious if he had the issue prior to the install.

 

It moves, Friend mentioned it might have to be recalibrated since I disconnected the MAF and TB. I dunno I'm just happy I have another vehicle to drive.

TB that came with the vehicle, or larger size?

Was it dropped?

How does the wiring look? At the plug and the pins inside it.

The ecu may not be receiving the feedback.

Larger TB size will 10/10 times give you a code if it has not been calibrated. As has been proven a larger TB does nothing for you so if you did indeed go larger you may want to consider throwing the OE back on, or doing the hard work necessary to recalibrate it including opening up the housing and turning the screw out as needed.

If you are using the OE TB then if you did drop it there is your issue there.

If nothing has happened to it since the install then it is indeed probable that you just have a defective unit. If your unit is good then check the pins and the wiring to it. Make sure you didn't punch it anywhere along the way. @BenMara.

Throw another stock 70mm throttle body on it and test. If the problem goes away, then it narrows down to the harness plug/pins or wiring harness.

I know another guy had offered already, but I have a stock TB you can use to test with. Let me know if you want it shipped out.

 

Eddie, we haven't met yet but based on our previous interactions you are one of this topics MVPs when it comes to being helpful as far as replacement parts and one offs are concerned.

 

It's the stock one, it was totally disconnected from the manifold. Never dropped. The only thing I did was coolant bypass.

 

Why did you do a coolant bypass? I'm wondering if that is causing you issues.

 

Thanks for the compliment Rob! The reality is I'm a poor troubleshooter compared to you guys and tend to throw parts at a problem as an attempt to fix it. Not economical nor efficient but complementary to the real troubleshooting advice/tips given by the bigger brains in this thread!
