Good morning, all! I think I'll stay home and try not to spend any more money today. After having to pay for the new garage door opener, I called to get the screen repaired on my iPhone Xs Max that I dropped a few months back. Had to order the replacement because the small shop I use doesn't keep them in stock because of the $$.

Stay warm and safe!! A chilly 21 here this morning.

Good Morning. A calm 29 degrees in Bowie, MD today.

Taking a day trip to Skyline Drive today. Should be a fun day of driving, looking at the view, and hiking.

Good Morning Fine folks of the porch :hattip:.

Speaking of cracked smart phone screens Mark, when the wife and I got our new phones she opted to get a screen protector with a phone lifetime warranty. So far she has had the protector replaced 4 times and OOPs it needs to be replaced again. She now wants to get rid of the fancy case and get an otter box with the built in protector. I have had my phone for 2 1/2 years and an otter box case and no problems. Some times practicality out weighs style .

Have a safe road trip Tom. Enjoy the day.

Have a safe and happy day. Be well folks.

Oh, almost forgot. Flowers.jpg For you during your Birthday week Sue. Enjoy.

I don't know if I should believe you, I think you were rooting for the deer but you are just being nice! One good thing, we found where the bullet hit a tree, I swear that darn tree moved between me and the deer when I shot!

Good morning everyone! We are starting to get some rain here in northeast PA. Supposed to warm up a bit but then drop again overnight with a chance of some freezing rain tomorrow. We have to run one of our Labs to the vet for a quick check but otherwise we are planning on staying in.

Be safe and enjoy as we slide into a New Year!

40 degrees this morning in NC . Heading up to the mid 50s , with light rain over the next couple of days. Wife and i went to look a new car for her yesterday. We test drove a new Nissan leaf and its a whole new driving experience. If you get a chance , watch a utube review . We have only owned Toyotas over the last 30 years , but i like the idea of an electric car for her because we are both retired and she drives very little. Anyway , i hope everyone has a Happy New Year and stays happy and healthy.

Happy New Years Eve everyone. We had a great day yesterday. The park was pretty empty when we arrived there at about 9:30am. Got busier as the day went on but still uncrowded. Lots of families out hiking in the park all day. The parking lots at the trail heads had a lot of cars but not packed. We saw a lot of deer and bicyclist enjoying the day. Limited bathroom facilities were open and clean. Perfect day. Nobody ran into me and I did not run into anything. Earned extra brownie points with the wife, after stopping at McDonalds for the son I did adrive thru at Dunkin. She wanted a cup O Joe and so did I. Traffic was not too bad on the beltway.

Good New Years Eve morning folks. Rain.jpg rain here this morning and hopefully it doesn't freeze over night. We are staying home and watching a movie or two and then off to bed for a good nights sleep. I have seen enough New Years come that it's just another day in the life of an old fogey :). Actually, I don't think I could stay up past midnight:rofl:

Got to watch those trees Carl, they can ruin a good shot at a moments notice.

Hope the pup is okay. My Grand dog Angus will be back with us in the spring because the surgeon said it is time to take the plate and screws out of his leg. He healed up quite well. Be safe driving out there.

I was driving for a Nissan dealer for awhile after I retired and had the opportunity to drive all there models. The Leaf was a gas (pardon the pun) to drive. It has an economy setting which saves on battery power and I enjoyed driving in the sport mode. It had a lot of power and it was quick off the line. I enjoyed watching the (in the 2017 models) the tree fluctuate on the dash when the auto regen was sending a charge to the battery. It was fun to drive and a lady that worked in the back office had one as a daily driver and loved it (because she worked there she got to charge it at the dealership for free ). Technology has changed since I drove them and it has gotten better so if you get one for her, enjoy.

Happy Birthday Week Susan. Cookies 2.jpg .

My wishes for everyone and their families to have a SAFE, Healthy and Covid free New Year in 2021. Enjoy the day and be safe.

    :rain:Good Morning Porchies!
 Thanks for the pics Tom!
:rain: Started raining here yesterday, and not supposed to stop until sometime tonight. Perfect end for the year, because we need it badly! We'll be inside hiding the dog from fireworks noise, and probably not doing much else. Not even a late bowl game! Every one have a happy, stay safe, and good riddance 2020! :rain:

The Nissan Leaf was a blast to drive Ken. Ya don't even have to use the brakes! Took me awhile to get used to that. It would be perfect for us because we rarely leave our little town. However, it only goes about 200 miles with the largest battery, so if we did travel in it , it would take some planning. But all the hi tech features are just mind blowing for this old guy. We're looking at a 4 Runner Ltd this afternoon. Talk about irony , it only gets 20 mpg if you are lucky.

The nice thing about The Leaf is they have all Nissan charging stations around the country listed in the GPS program. I don't know how much they charge to charge the Leaf or how long it takes. I do know they have a rapid or fast charge but don't know how long that charge lasts. I myself am not ready for an electric car. Although there are a large number of Tesla S3  sedans on the road in my area. I guess an electric would be a great around town car. Enjoy the car shopping. I'll be doing that myself very soon.
    Have a great day.

Happy New Year all! Please all be safe. I stopped celebrating New Years many years ago. Now a days we take out Chinese food and watch a couple movies on New Year’s Eve. We’re in bed and asleep way before midnight.
Electric cars are fine for some but not for me. For me I see more disadvantages than advantages to owning one. A couple months ago we bought a new Toyota Highlander. I wanted a 4Runner but it was for the wife and she wanted a Highlander. And since wifey is always right and I’m always wrong we got the Highlander. It’s all new and redesigned for 2020. Nicest vehicle I’ve owned and I’ve owned some very nice vehicles. Comfortable, quiet, AWD, handles great, all the amenities imaginable, lots of seating and cargo area, 20mpg city, 27mpg highway. 295 horsepower! We happy.
Let’s hope it really is a happy new year and we get back to “normal” in 2121.

Happy new year’s eve. Another beautiful day. Clear and cool. BBQ this evening. Nothing major just burgers and such.

We usually have quite a crowd but this year only a few in our circle. Hopefully next year I can go whole hog (literally?)

I took this pic a couple weeks back of my trophy kill from 2019.
Same gun, but last year I had the short smooth barrel and irons.

I think I have steam literally coming out of my ears right now. My stepson's wife is not only not telling us anything, she is actively blocking us from obtaining information about him. We have not done anything we can think of to cause her to do this. We've been patient and tolerant of her odd ways of communicating, but when we ask for medical specifics such as "is he getting oxygen" we apparently cross a line. She is also telling other people not to talk to us. I don't know if or when we will hear any more about his condition. I'd drive down there right now and put her in a headlock but it would probably just get me arrested.

When we do get information from her it consists of one line regarding his condition, such as "he is still alive!" followed by 20 paragraphs about the goodness, greatness, and all-powerfulness of the Christian deities. I am not exaggerating. Yesterday my wife measured the length of one of the texts from her; it was 24 inches -- two feet! -- from one end to the other. The total medical information within that space was "the doctors are taking good care of him." The rest was a religious diatribe.

This does not look anything at all like the Christianity I grew up with.

We know he is still in the ICU. We think he is still on a ventilator. We also know that hospital staff has been specifically instructed by the wife not to release any information at all to us; they're bound by HIPAA to honor that demand.

    It's maddening. It's heartbreaking.

So sorry Dave. I don't know what else to say, but hope and pray he makes a speedy recovery and gives you updates. What kind of _________ keeps that information from family??
