    Hey TW,

I’ve been looking for some larger tires recently. I have a TRD off road which means I have the 16x7 inch rims. I’m planning to swap rims with a TRD Sport which is 17x7.5 inches

Is anyone successfully running 33x10.5 tires on a STOCK 3rd Gen Tacoma with TRD Sport wheels with no suspension lift?

I’m not afraid to cut, trim, but I DO NOT want to add spacers. The only thing I am worried about is the tire rubbing the Upper Control Arm

Btw, TRD Sport wheels have a +30 offset
TRD Off Road wheels have a +25 offset

Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Well, I thought about that, but I’m not a very big fan of the skinny tires

EDIT: Tall & Skinny as in 255s

A 33x10.5 would be considered a tall skinny tire.

Ah. I was thinking about the 255s
I see what you’re saying about how 10.5 paired with a 33” tire is a tall & skinny

So um, would it fit with TRD sport wheels without rubbing on the UCA?

My money is on, they will rub uca's. Less than .5" between tire and uca with stock (wheel/tire) set up on my 18 sport. (265/65r17)

Hmm. My stock TRD Off Road with also a stock wheel/tire setup has at least 1” of clearance from the UCA

Does anyone think that a 33x10.5 inch mud-terrain tire, which is 2.4 inches taller than stock (1.2 inches taller on each side) and 0.1 inches wider will fit on a TRD Sport rim without rubbing the UCA?

A suggestion, for a modest fee many tire shops will mount a tire on your wheel for a trial fit on your truck. In the end you will know directly if it works on your truck.

If you do, please do take a picture of the fit and clearance to both the UCA and the cab mount.

Yeah, I’ve heard that Discount Tire does that. If I ever find out that it works, I’ll definitely let everyone know!!

Yes, it will fit, it will be close but it won’t rub the UCA, a 265 tire is almost 10.5
I’d try it. Are you looking at the Kenda Klever?
You are going to want aftermarket UCAs like SPC so you can position your tire with minimal chipping in your wheel well.

Thanks for the info! I think this might actually work with no rubbing

Thanks for the tip! This gives me more courage to try! I might have to stick with the stick UCA for now. I’m not afraid to trim and cut if I have to

What is a ‘Kenda Klever’ by the way?

EDIT: I looked it up. It’s a tire. No, I’m not looking at the Kenda Klever. I’m actually looking at a Goodyear Wrangler MT/R

The MTR is a good tire, the Aussie’s run them and go hard.

They sure do! The Australians sure wheel hard—and they know what they’re doing too!

Are you looking at the load range D ? One place said it weighs 48lbs but that sounds light to me.

Yes. I find my tires directly from the manufacturer website. Goodyear.com says it’s Load Range D
I don’t now how heavy the tire is though.

Tire size.com has good info. it’s lighter than some 255s.
