Testing the waters out there but seeing what would be my best option on doing a u bolt flip kit for the leafs. I have seen many applications being hydraulic or air what are the recommendations on this topic? Do I go with timbren and u bolt flip shackles or do I go with something like what locked offroad sells hydraulic bump stops.

What is your lift and are you hauling a constant load to need extended bumpstops? If you are still on OEM leafs, a new leaf pack is necessary. I would recommend wheeler's superbump bumpstops and flip kit.

Would you really need bumpstops if you decide to go with a full leaf pack that will provide lift and increase load capacity?

The super bumps are one of my favorite upgrades. They are relatively cheap, the bump stop is progressive and substantially increases the comfort when the rear and front suspension "maxes" out. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade imo. It was more noticeable in the front but still quite noticeable overall. I also found it prevents the rear leaf pack from over extending too much, you do lose some up travel but it should be negligible for most drivers.

Up travel shouldn’t be lost though as the super bumps fully compress to the same height as the stock bumps. Just noticeably smoother as you mentioned

Wheelers superbumps are taller than stocks but the progressively compressing of the Wheelers SB smooths the impact versus the sudden clunk of the oems.

They are a bit taller so I assumed I would lose a tiny bit. But I digress and will agree that they compress much much more than oem!
