A dewalt grinder?

 

Was the allen wrench to adjust the gaurds?

 

Yep

Nope, to remove the nut. But it's got 3 types of tool holes in one nut, kinda nice really. The gaurd is toolless

 

My cordless one has the Allen key. I can do that one by hand though as long as it’s not cut off wheels. Same goes for my dewalt corded ones (ones 8-10 years old now and lived through a fire it started lol)

 

I’ve never used the tool unless I’ve gotten it jammed up enough to break a wheel or stall the grinder. 60% of the time the hand tightening method like @EatSleepTacos posted has worked for me every time.

 

I didn't realize people actally used those wrenches.

Lol yes I was, and I fed myself too. Had myself a 2am slice of pizza.

 

Most times I tighten by hand it is breaking the nut loose months later where I need to go for the wrench or what ever tools are needed.

Yes it is months when you have as many grinders as me the discs seldom need changed .

Funny the longer you fabricate the less often you need the grinder in some cases .

 

I keep three grinders set up. One for grinding, one for cutting, and one for the flap wheel. Honestly if I change one wheel a year I’d be lying. It was worth the weight in gold to get 3 grinders set up

 

And the longer you fabricate the less you need any of the wheels lol. I still use it a lot but not nearly as much as when I first started fabricating.

 

S3 wire or S6? Thoughts on Blue Demon?

 

ive always used s6 due to most of the stuff I’m welding might have a little surface rust or mill scale I didn’t get clean. Never used blue demon so can’t give any thoughts on it but I like the Hobart 10 lb spools they have always treated me well.

 

How about Tungsten Electrodes for DC lift Tig? I'm thinking welding sheet metal onto a trailer.

I guess (from this one site) it looks like I'll use S2 filler rods, lots of new things to learn...

Ive been using the 2% lanthanated

 

I got one of those. It's made me a lot of money.

 

This one used to make me a lot, it rarely gets used now. I do most of my welding at work now
