Yeah I started without that connected and got the same error, and recently got the tender since it's an agm batt and i'm adding an auxiliary to the system. Just had time today to get back at trying the update.

Whitedlite did or were you able to get this problem resolved on the 2018?

Does it matter what version of the Tactrix is used? I clicked on the ad at the bottom of this page to the Openport 2.0 on Amazon for 34 bucks, and it's a version E where mine is a version H.

You're using a $30 clone? If so, then that's the problem.

The genuine Tactrix from tactix.com or vftuner.com is the least expensive, reliable option.

Don't buy it from Amazon. It's fake, guaranteed. If that's what you are trying to use, that is your problem.

Fakes are everywhere....Walmart 3rd party sellers have Chinese Tactrix clones for $30 too. Not worth risking having to buy a new ECU.

    Yep, ebay wherever....

It probably won't permenantly brick your ECM, but you will still have to buy the Tacrix adapter and bench flash to get it back anyway.

Soooo...it was the computer he was using? I didn't see an answer prior to "that was it". I only have one windows laptop :(

I got mine directly from Tactrix, the $170.00 version.

Since you have the real Tactrix and DL'ed the drivers from their site, that should not be the problem. Do not use 3rd party drivers.

His was a work computer and had security software locking things down. I doubt that is your issue. It sounds like a driver issue. You have two drivers when you shouldn't

Go into device manager right click on the Openport device and do "uninstall". Make sure you check the box to delete the drivers.
Unplug the adapter, reinstall the drivers, plug it back in.

Thanks for the clarification, I thought I had read your posts clearly where you hadn't found a solution either, i'm stumped on what the issue could be. I've uninstalled/reinstalled drivers with no changes to that error popping up.

Have you tried a different USB cable? Can you connect to the truck using Techstream?

To both, no I recommended the guy go ahead and ask dealer to do it. I didn’t even try hooking back up to my truck yet, was busy over holidays. However I am now going to try to flash a tune on the 18 to see if it takes this afternoon when meeting up.

good thing we’re both close to each other.

I have tried multiple cables and no Techstream won't connect. Unable to connect to VIM.jpg

Here, you went to the Setup menu, clicked on VIM, and selected the OpenPort drivers?
