    As I said used parts, even if cleaned up and pretty are a crapshoot. But folks still buy them and cry about it.

    All 3 starters were from 3 different manufacturers, and all 3 starters were 'remans'. I still have the box in my truck that the dealership left in my truck to put the other starter in there so I can take it back to Advanced Auto. It states right on the box "Toyota Remanufactured Part". So in your words, it's a used part like the others - no crying here, just giving people some good advice to stay with Denso's for their tacos, no need to be a smartass about it.

    Regardless, cheers to everyone and hope your new year starts well! Haha, pun intended!

    Yup, reman1 -> reman2 -> reman3

    Indeed, lovely. Again, the point and keyword is DENSO, not new or used. Indeed, lovely. Once a smartass, always a smartass. #eabod

    And hours after all of this was OVER I thought...and just wanted to give thanks for anyone trying to help me with advice earlier on this thread (except for Mr smartass of course), I discovered some dishonesty and corruption at my dealership today and wanted to share with you all how I just got screwed in all of this.

    When I got home today returning starters, the original one to the dealership to get a $60 core refunded, and another starter back to AAP for a full refund since dealership tested it faulty. The guy at the AAP counter had to test it of course (store policy on all starter returns) and the starter worked! He tried it several times and it worked, the computer even diagnosed it further and passed all tests. He still took the starter back and refunded my money because he stated that it could have been a weird scenario where the starter was surging too much power and just didn't agree with my truck's system. I dismissed this as 'my bad luck'.....

    On the drive home I noticed that my sound system was weak and felt the sub behind the seat and noticed it wasn't on....figured the power lead was disconnected at the battery during the service departments testing/etc when they were diagnosing my truck's problems and they just forgot to hook it back up.

    Popped the hood and sure enough, no power to the amp because the 4 gauge wire lead from the fuse breaker in-line was CUT from it's lead hookup to the battery, and not disconnected which was strange? This was one of those copper-clad power leads, so I took the time to upgrade the power lead from the fuse breaker in-line with better OFC 4 gauge wiring since I already had it and was planning on doing it in the future anyway.

    As soon as I had the wire run and hooked up, I figured I would start her up and configure the radio that always loses it settings after a battery disconnect of course. NOPE! CLICK, no starter again! Popped the hood again, disconnected my new OFC power lead, re-tried starting the truck. BAM! Works!

    Starter was not bad at all, this is because of a faulty amp that I will get replaced soon - a Rockford digital amp I have ran for about 3 years with no issues at standard 4 ohm load.

    A full-write up of this disturbing scenario was written and emailed to my service advisor for 12 years with the store manager copied on it. I just completed my write up so I am certain that because of NYE and time crunch, this will get caught attention to next week, and it needs to be addressed by management, because this is dishonesty! I'm pretty sure my service advisor didn't know this, but a lot of different people in the company were copied on that detailed email anyway. I am disturbed by this, especially with my loyal 12 years of continued service with them.....hope it doesn't happen to anyone else.

    Happy New Years everyone....enough of this crappy 2020!

    Mr smartass told you on the first page to avoid rebuilt parts. But you knew better. Hopefully you learned the lesson I tried to impart earlier.

    What a turn of events and dealerships don't have much loyalty .

    Irrelevant - it wasn't a bad rebuilt part at all, it was another problem all together, and dishonesty and corruption at the dealership disguising the issue as something else so they could charge me $$$ for service. The starter I put in Sunday was good....lesson learned is do not trust ANYBODY. Everyone is out there with their dick in their hand trying to screw you, one way or another.

    FYI Yes I read the final answer but I had the same issues with a bad rebuilt starter.... x2 from NAPA. Went to a local autoparts store and got another and it was perfect. Now I have the OEM one I own rebuilt by a local auto electric place not far where I live, Never an issue.
