Didn’t realize you were building a trailer. @TerraNerva We are building one as well. Yours is looking nice.

What's the dimensions of the footprint, excluding tongue, that y'all are building? I was looking the other day for a generally light, 6'x4' rtt trailer since I think that's the footprint of my tent all closed up. A lot of overland trailers are fully built out and more expedition ready than what I'd want. They're suuuper nice, but also pricey and a little heavy. I probably wouldn't use it enough to justify that. The mid height bars I use are nice aerodynamically, but they limit the height and are a pain

I think this is kinda neat:
    upload_2020-12-30_8-25-55.jpg
They'll weld low or tall rtt bars on the lid and adjust the strength of the lid struts appropriately. Of course, the guy that builds these is in CA. :anonymous:

I found this one I liked in Florida https://www.weeroll.com/adventure-trailer, and told my welding buddy to build it for me. It's 5' wide x 8' long x 4' interior. I wanted something super beefy I could sleep in, haul gear, and cook out of that would handle offroad adventures. I like those gear trailers, but I'm done with ladders and tents.

That's understandable. There's a huge advantage in being able to close the door and drive away too. I liked that about sleeping under the softopper. Are you gonna frame anything out inside or leave it fully open?

I'm going to frame in a galley in the back, pass-through doors, and then some type of simple cabinet in the front. I'm going to base it loosely on this interior design:

Edit: That's also the coupler I bought. MaxCoupler

Spend the new year around Mountain View, did a little trail ride after this. No pics of the trail as it was getting dark. But here’s a pic of mine and dads out by Mirror lake at Blanchard springs.

Wife and I have been trying to get up to Blanchard Springs for a while now. We actually had a trip planned when the caverns shut down for COVID. When it warms up a little we may have to drop the kid off at my Dad's for a weekend and go explore.
