Same for me. I didn't go beyond 30 miles with the light on. Was tempted to put a gas can in the truck and drive until I ran out of gas.

    I went about 40 miles.
It was a LONG 40 miles.
I don’t recommend doing this unless “you have to”.
It sounds like you “have to”.

No gas, but on the positive you have internet! Good luck man 2020 seems to be ending the same way the whole year went (all the drive in the world, and no gas to get anywhere)

    You had plenty...

Having been there I know that's a very uncomfortable feeling. Glad it worked out alright.

    Happy New Year!

Nice work! I’ve been in the same situation as you. The taco has about 3–4 gal when the light turns on. My wife thinks otherwise and thinks we are about to run out as soon as the light turns on...I had to prove it to her a time or two . It wasn’t a peaceful drive by any means!

Even with 3-4 gallons in the tank the engine may stop running if you start up, or down, a steep hill and the remaining fuel can't be picked up because it flows to one end of the tank. It isn't a good practice to wait until the light comes on.

Whew! I hate that feeling. I usually fill up when I drop below 1/2 a tank but I'm usually near a gas station.
    It's definitely a bad feeling.

a bit of a follow up...
this particular gas station i mentioned (maybe some of you are familiar with it) being out of gas is in the eastern portion of california's mojave desert. it's been my go-to for a fill up before heading out to remote desert areas numerous times even tho they price gouge, the restrooms are filthy & they charge to use the microwave. i came to count on this station, so i didn't carry my 5 gal. can when heading out that way...never again...valuable lesson learned.
