gm- installation is going well and I am just about done- I do wonder did you or have you had a chance to get any pics or designs for the limit strap solution you mentioned that goes to the frame? and where about did you say the limit tabs should go on the axle/ frame? Is that outboard towards the wheel side of the ubolts?

No, I didn't get it done on my truck yet, been too busy with orders. Here is the image in the instructions

I would run a strap up to the frame rail a few inches behind the bump bracket on the frame, drill a 1/2" hole in the frame about 1" from the bottom flange. Using this method for a 12" shock should be about right for a ~18" strap

kinda off topic but i figured this was a good way to reach you archive. Im trying to beef up my icon RTX rear leaf springs to better manager 600-700lbs constant load in bed. do you think your rear additional antiwrap leafs would be compatible with the icon rtxs in option 3?

    Hi,

No, the RXT design is single stage, it doesn't include a 2nd or overload to engage

Currently working on placing an order for ADS shocks. Here is what I have in my email so far, any suggestions as far shock build requests go? Specific hose lengths, etc? Positives/negatives of 12" vs. 14"?

    General Shock Build request:
    - 2.5x12" smooth-body shock
    - Remote reservoir w/compression adjusters
    - Straight fitting out of top cap for reservoir hose
    - Standard rod-end (1.5" wide, 1/2" bolt)

That all sounds good Brent, but I think ADS standard rod end is longer than King's standard, I would request a short rod end for gound clearance, keeps the axle tab up higher.
I recommend the same for Fox 2.5s

From Ace hardware, it's just a 1" long stainless steel sleeve. I added some heat shrink around it to make it black. As far as the longer bolt, I don't remember the size. I just took the short bolt to the hardware store, figured out the size and got a +1" longer bolt for it.

Thanks. About to put my hangers on this weekend so wanted to add a little to brake lines without buying a new line. Should be okay with +1 inch with my current setup. When i get shock relocation ill extend the lines.

Anyone running this kit figured out a roost shield/rock guard for a 2.5 to protect the shock shafts from flying debris?

Upon further research, King, Falcon and ORI make versions that fit their products but Fox doesn’t make one for a 2.5

For Kings they are a good idea, because their shafts ding easy and may need to be replaced during a rebuild
Fox have durable shafts, but a shield is a good idea. I bought a used pair of 2nd gen Raptor shocks for a project, and the plastic shaft guards were rashed pretty good, previous owner must have driven them hard in the desert. So I see the benefit

These are my shafts after being installed the middle of September.

My driving style and setup obviously throws a lot of debris at them and I’d like to avoid having to tear them down this regularly. It’s compounded by living on the beach and seeing things start to corrode immediately.

I’m thinking a plastic version is the best choice for a guard and may be forced to break some rules and use the king version.

That's eye opening, thanks for explaining why you needed guards.

Apparently the rocks in AZ where I've been playing are sharp and hard.

Is this something you would want to add to your catalog? Maybe something along the line of the 4Runner/FJ rear shock armor several companies make?

Figured someone in this thread would be knowledgeable on this. Is there much benefit to going with longer travel in the rear if you only have extended travel front shocks and not long travel? Not sure how the physics work having all that articulation in just the rear while the front isn’t much better than stock.

Yeah, most people still run extended travel up front and go with 12" shocks out back
