I thought about giving my wife's old Rav4 to my nephew last year. No license, doesn't look like that is changing, and most of all no job. Nope.

I like you was into gaming since I was 6, but that was not my primary thing..though bikes were an individual type thing for me too. This kid..does nothing but stay on the game systems and hasn't done anything else for IDK how long. Not realistic at almost 18.

    6 nieces and nephews. 25, 22, 16, 15, 13, and 18 months old.
Oldest one is an ER RN put herself through private nursing school debt free and is now saving to get her DNP. 22yo is working towards being a journeyman plumber and starting his own company. 16 year old wants to go to nursing school and I hope going to college on full scholarship for cross country. 15 year old is going to complete high school early and hopefully get through a year of college by 18 and she runs her own embroidery and tutoring side business. My dream for her is she goes to Purdue for Engineering. The 13 year old is probably going to be a software engineer or a B grade Youtube Enforcer.
18 month old is probably going to be a model or actress. She loves cameras and making dance videos already.

These kids make me look like a bum, except the potential enforcer, like I said he still worries me. Hes either going places or will be living in his parents basement at 40. He does do exceptional in school though.

They are all worth bragging about. :)

You just need to randomly adopt kids on the street lol.

Is anyone here familiar with hip pain when squatting specifically on the lateral part of the hip, or perhaps the cause and treatment for it? I did therapy for 4 weeks and when I started squatting again, it felt fine but as I increased weight it started to come back. I've been conscious of increasing my hip mobility and incorporating more hip focused exercises in my workouts, since my hips lacked mobility. It really only hurts from squats and not leg pressed or single leg work like lunges. Any help would be appreciated!

My experience with hip related pain is limited to piriformis syndrome. Which DL and squats brought out.
    I know @ThunderCookies had a labral tear.

If you do well on single leg stuff could be a muscle imbalance.

Is the pain as the movement happens or after?

The treadmill arrived yesterday and I ordered a squat stand, weights, bench and bar this afternoon. The weights probably won’t ship/arrive anytime soon and that’s ok. Just need them to get here before summer. My wife and I are planning an extended elk season and I really need to get in shape before trying to pack into the new area .
Anyways, cheers to 2021:cheers:. 2020 was actually a great year for me. Started a new job, bought an amazing new home, made new friends, and got to spend lots of time with the pups teleworking. I really can’t complain. I do hope 2021 is a better year for those who are impacted and going through tough times.

So the pain is typically coming up out of the squat vs going into it. I do believe muscle imbalances played a role in why it got injured in the first place. It’s almost like it flares up then settles down. I suck at describing pain but it feels like a pinching/compression pain, when coming up out of the squat.

Is there anything else you wear for squats? It’s almost 2021. Everyone should have a dedicated pair of squat shorts by now.

Idk about injuries but drop the weight and go deeper. That’s not a squat.

I could see how if you're trained to a decently high level those shorter workouts don't "push" or "stress" you which would in turn build muscle/endurance. As in "that shit was a walk in the park" type activity isn't going to challenge you. But.....I'd say that those junk workouts help keep your overall fitness to that high of a level to begin with. I very rarely used to run less than a 7-8 mile run. It only got good after mile 4 or so but I wasn't trying to build up to as many miles per week as you. You can't go run a 15 every day, hence the shorter workouts. Not sure any of that makes sense. LOL

Pain or discomfort isn’t the same thing as an injury. I am also not saying to ignore pain but realize there is a difference.
If your max squat isn’t over 315 I’d say you’d have to be doing something pretty atrocious to injure yourself. Change your foot width around and find the position were you can get the lowest with the least lower back rounding.
The lower you can get with correct form the greater the benefit.
