Toyota Corporate, open a case. What they say is final. Worse they can say is no at this point but this doesn't sound right at all...

It's bolted to the engine. If it fails, coolant is lost, and the engine overheats, which is powertrain.

    I don't understand why it's not covered.

    Worth some more phone calls.

If u end up changing it yourself a write up would be cool! I'm sure a lot of people at some point or another will be changing that part.

This should be covered by your powertrain warranty. That's an email from your dealer? I would find another one..

    In the owners manual...

    Warranty.jpg

It's also not something listed in any of the exclusions. OP don't roll over. It's your right as an owner to have this repaired at no cost to you. Open a corporate case.

I really hope that you get many years out of her, only time will tell. Any mods that I was going to do are on the back burner now. Not going to put a bunch of money into a vehicle that is going to fall apart before my eyes.

Probably already a post out there that lists all the issues, but thought I'd just compile most of mine.

    Cheers

I just noticed that problem on my 17 Tacoma Sport with 32k miles.
Wondering if the guarantee apply for rebuild title. Now l know others have same problem and it wasn't caused for the accident.
And yes, that part is a pain..

Think Toyota has three year 60,000km bumper to bumper warranty. Hopefully you’re still covered. Rear water bypass joint not covered under power train warranty. Good luck.

Seems like a bad deign imo. The piece should allow some changes in dimensions between the two metal parts. Even small changes from heat expansion and contraction will occur and the plastic piece cannot absorb that and will crack. Imo all will eventually need replacement during the lifetime of the engine, maybe a few times. If it keeps cracking it’s not the part, it’s the design. You actually think the plastic piece is defective, no way. Someone needs to design an aftermarket part for toyos screwup.

Thermostat housing on my 07 4.0 was plastic as well(bakelite).

I had to replace it twice, not a huge deal as it was easily accessable. There was a metal aftermarket part made for 4.0 mustang engine but not for the ranger. Stupid designs to save money.

Shitty part that on the taco its not easily accessable. Oh well, we will see how lomg it lasts.

Researching an upgraded replacement is already underway... have a few things to check out before we design and manufacture a replacement.
