I can see someone not ordering A/C if they couldn't afford it, but why would you get power windows instead of A/C? Did it have cruise control and/or tilt steering?

 

Nope, the windows were really the only creature comfort in that car. I guess too back in those days cars weren't loaded with a lot of the toys (even loaded up back then was nowhere near what today is), so adding the AC option would maybe add another grand to the price.

 

Somewhere in here, there’s pictures of a silver 1982 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera that a writer who goes by the name of “Murilee Martin” (not his real name) found in a SoCal salvage yard; The car has a cruise, tilt, and an AM/FM radio, but no A/C. It also has the bigger V6 engine; The car originally came from Pennsylvania as evidenced by 1989 inspection stickers in the windshield, but was moved to California. The car only has 135K miles and is utterly immaculate, and I’m guessing it was traded in at a dealer and nobody wanted such an old car with no A/C at the wholesale auction so it ended up in the junkyard...

I’ve put almost 4,000 miles on my truck in less than 3 months!

Probably about a 2 hour drive in Dayton, but they come down this way to practice over all the open land. Low altitude maneuvers kinda scares the cat along with an occasional sonic boom.
