I could really use all y’all s help and ideas
So yesterday I was mobbing around and hit a huge pothole. Somehow broke my rusted to shit body mount on the rear drivers side!

Took it into Toyota to see if I qualify for the frame replacement but since the previous owner didn’t have the corrosion resistance spray applied you guessed it I’m sol. Nothing they can do for me. Took it to a couple auto body shops and nobody wants to weld onto the frame because of liability.

So my question is what do I do?
How do I fix this ?
Is there a mount somebody makes that I can have welded on there or do I have to go find one at a pick and pull and cut it off the frame?

The metal behind the mount seams solid. No perforation around that area.
So I think it could be easily done, but I am no welder.

Anybody fellow Members in Salt Lake City area down to help me out.
Truck only has 40000 miles on it. I got ass, grass ,and cash to give lol
Any ideas and help is greatly appreciated

Came from New York I reckon that’s why it’s so rusty

I guarantee someone here in the SLC area can weld it up for you. I'm not super familiar with places here that do fab work, ask in the Utah BS thread though.
I recommend doing all the rust treatment you can as well, I am about to start that journey on my 96 I picked up here in UT.

Making a body mount is just 3 plates. Pretty easy but I'd start cleaning up the frame if I were you

Proper air pressure in tires, clean windows, coins under seats.
Yeah, I'd also be concerned about any other areas of rust on your frame. From the pics you posted, it looks like someone has worked on that frame already. It appears that a plate has been welded to the bottom of your frame already, just below that body mount, along with a weld line just to the right of the mount. Check around your rear leaf shackle mounting points and around any holes in the boxed sections of your frame. Those are typically vulnerable areas to rust.

As far as repairing that mount, you could find a scrapped frame and cut a mount off it. You also may be able to order a new mount from Toyota. I know Toyota sells other frame hardware. When I did my frame repair, I purchased a new rear shock mount from Toyota.

You should be able to get a new body Mount or one that will work remember to get the Top and Bottom the bushings and The Bolt

Looks like your going to have some work nothing that can be done.

Might get expensive if you need to pay labor

The Toyota frame undercoating is only a requirement if you live in one of the "cold weather states" as determined by Toyota, which are mostly if not all East coast states. You might still qualify for a frame replacement if you take it in, I don't think Utah is considered one of those states.

Since you have an 04 you're deadline is fast approaching, I'd take it in quick just to see what they say

Ah wait I just saw your post saying it came from New York, that's definitely one of the cold weather states lol.

OME, SPC UCA, ARB w/warn 10K winch, TG Rock Defense Rear, Marlin Clutch, Custom hi clearance under bed spare mount. 285/75/16. A ton of repairs done and a list up to come modifications.
Bring it down to Vegas and I will weld it up for you. I rebuilt 2 of my rear cab mounts with some flat stock.
You can also order the cab mounts https://www.toyotapartsdeal.com/parts-list/1999-toyota-tacoma-4-wheel-drive/frame.html
Find a local welder or welder fabricator. many will say no but some will say yes.
Worst case scenario a Craigslist guy will come out and weld it in your driveway.

Clean up the the area first, remove the coating and use a wire brush to remove the rust to prep the area for welding.

Check the frame with a ball pen hammer. All other parts you can find here https://www.autorust.com/product-category/toyota/tacoma-safetcap-chart/

If worse comes to worse that could be made up with unequal leg angle iron and maybe two triangular gussets on the ends. You can grind off the old bracket, clean up the frame area and bolt the new one to the frame after priming and painting the hidden parts. Then drill down from inside the cab to located the holes and use the same rubber bushings, spacers and a new bolt, washers and nut as required. That way you don't have to weld on the frame. I hope the rest of the frame isn't worse though. If you visit a welding shop or steel yard they will be able to sell you something that will work for next to nothing. 3/8" thick would be way more than enough. OR buy the mount from Toyota, have it welded to an oversized plate, drill and bolt the plate to the cleaned and painted frame.

I recommend you pressure wash the frame, underbody, and drive line and inspect the whole truck top to bottom.

Thanks 970btu. Just what I was looking for I think I’m going to buy a replacement mount from that link and try and have someone weld it on.

Thread revival...How did you get insurance to total your truck? Wondering if I should do the same if it’s possible. Thanks.
