Possession of marijuana has been decriminalized here, medicinal is legal (though you can’t get a carry permit if you have a cannabis card), and recreational is on its way to being 100% legal...

I’ve never been arrested and never lost my license; DUIs never go away?

I have a friend who got a “BUI” on a jet ski over 20 years ago and had the book thrown at her by an overly emotional judge.

    @ABA180

I don’t know if you remember this, but I was hit by a drunk driver back in October 2015; The guy was a 70-year old man who previously killed someone in another drunk-driving accident in the late 1980s. If the police hadn’t shown when they did, he would have been involuntarily drinking his next beer through a straw after I got through with him!

True but at that time your friend got caught I'm surmising it wasn't?

MA decriminalized small amounts about 10-12 years ago, aka "Under An Ounce Law"..made it just a civil citation. We then did medical cards and went full legal 4 years ago.

Depending on your state..the DUI never really leaves per se, but it used to be until 2003-4 that if you were arrested again any prior DUI 10 years previous or older wasn't counted. One of the changes brought by Melanie's Law (so named for a young girl killed by someone with priors who got a slap on the wrist) was the "lifetime lookback.

Mine was 18 years ago but I'm unable to get any gun permits for life.

BUI is a real thing just like DUI..and IMO every bit as dangerous if not moreso. If you crash a boat it's much tougher to get assistance to you quickly versus on the road.

I remember it but not the details off my head..and I really do agree with the anger there, can't say my reaction wouldn't have been similar

I’ve talked about the teacher’s aid who’s initials were “PMS”; She had a red 1993 Mazda Protege 5-speed, and the car was mint but it did not have A/C. He husband had a 1999 Mazda pickup that did have A/C though...

She didn’t lose her driving privileges; This was in Georgia, and whenever someone gets a driver’s license they automatically get a boating license, and while she could still drive a car, she wasn’t allowed to operate a motorized watercraft on a public body of water in the state of Georgia for one year...

I have a friend who is unable to get a gun permit in PA, and he has no idea why; We believe it has something to do with a seatbelt ticket he got in Manhattan while riding as a passenger in friend’s car YEARS AGO, and never paid.

He unfortunately can’t drive anymore because he’s legally blind, but when he did have a license he never lost it for any reason.

Also, I don’t believe that a DUI in itself can prevent one from obtaining a gun permit in Pennsylvania; I don’t have any criminal record, and as such I was able to walk in an obtain a CCW in under an hour at the county sheriff’s office, so I’m not a good person to ask about the effects of prior convictions on one’s ability to get one...

Obviously, the prick who hit my truck was a convicted felon because his previous DUI crash resulted in someone dying, and wouldn’t be able to buy a gun at all; I do believe that in Alaska, since hunting is such a big part of life and culture there, that convicted felons are allowed to own long guns (rifles and shotguns) depending on what the felony was, but don’t quote me on this.

While yes 2 different licenses etc, boating still does have rules in terms of intoxication at least. Not sure of the whole spectrum.

I would imagine that if he's been denied, they would have to give some reason why. Should definitely look into it.

Just about 115K. I got it with 6600 in Oct 2012

Here it can. Any felony conviction or violent crime, for instance. My understanding is any OUI from 1994 on is considered violent in MA. Stupid.

I'm curious how he ever got a license again in the first place.

There was another strange Subaru from that era, think it was called "XT Coupe" and recall the side windows not being able to open or something weird like that. It also had extremely stupid commercials with thick southern accent hillbillies that thought it was a flying saucer.

If that's the one I think it is, then Subaru's attempt to make the gearshift look like a joystick in a fighter jet ended up making it look like the male genitalia!

    Is understeer or oversteer worse?

Understeer is considered by experts to be safer. But oversteering is more fun, lol.
