MTBE is the old hotness and new hotness.

Good for the environment and good for the body.

Bucc-ee's has ethanol free.......93 octane, about $1 more than 87 octane 10% ethanol per gallon. I treat all my vehicles to some occasionally. Supposedly 2 counties away from Dallas/Houston/Austin/San Antonio metro area counties should have it in TX but not thinking that is always true.

Any county that is not on the EPA's high population/pollution list will have non-ethanol fuel available.

Austin county is 2 counties away from Harris county and haven't seen any there yet. Looked several times before the Buc-ee's opened. Buc-ee's is closer to me than Austin county anyway so I stopped looking.

I miss my sti with 85% ethanol gasoline pumping through its veins. This fear and ignorance about how ethanol works in modern cars is hilarious and sad.

Another factor, although less so in sealed fuel systems. Water and Ethanol Bond when mixed, seperate from the real gas, and all settle to the bottom of the container rather quickly. It is impressive to see...

The fear and ignorance about some people still having vehicles they like driving that weren't designed to deal with ethanol and that ethanol is no good for them and should have ethanol free as reasonable available choice is not hilarious.

My previous vehicle was a 2002 WRX (finally parted ways at 337,000 miles). It was pretty far from stock and when I got it tuned for E85 and bumped my boost to suit, it was just hilarious. Too hard to find places to get E85 out in the southwest though so I couldn't use it consistently. I think I used 20% more fuel and gained 15% more horsepower. So much fun though!

But really, mid-grade 10% ethanol gasoline in the Tacoma, 90 proof in my glass, 100LL avgas in everything else.

Over the long term ethanol, which is alcohol, will dry out rubber components. I plan on keeping the Taco long term and I can get 94 octane at Chevron in B.C.:D Saturday and Sunday mornings at a Chevron are like a car show with muscle cars, hot rods, turbo and supercharged cars regularly get their high octane filling.
