These were a lot of fun to weld for some reason.

What are they? I don’t know why but the first thing that comes to mind is they look like individual sides of a snatch block haha

Decided I wanted wheels on my cheap welding table. Still wanted to be able to fold the table for transport if needed. So I built a little cart to set it on.

Ain’t pretty but it’s functional.

One very important lesson that took me years to learn.

Never go cheap on Casters it always ends up coming back to get you later and costs 3 times as much to fix the problem after the fact.

    A thing or two...
Looks good. Are there more plates to fill the gap in the 3rd photo between the body and bumper.

No. You have to cut the stock bumper cover and reinstall...

Going back and forth on dropping a couple grand on a welder and equip. for it, and wanting some advice before doing so. I am a beginner (learning). looking at the miller 211 (as it does both alu and steel), getting with it the spool 150, and the t94i helmet (did some research and yea it is $$$$ but overall reviews were positive), along with the consumables. Go for it?! or consider other options? I'd like to buy once and use for a long period of time kinda of person and not have to deal with issues for going a tad cheaper.:notsure:

If I was going to buy one machine to do everything and was gonna go big all at once, I’d really consider a tig machine.

Out of curiosity, did you log how many hours you put into assembling that bumper? Been debating picking one up.

I haven't really been keeping track. Are you talking about just the bumper itself or everything (remove stock cover, grind frame, chase all mounting points, drill/tap new mounting holes, stock air compressor relocate etc)?

Don't limit yourself to just the 211. It's a great machine but there are other machines that offer the same features (outside of autoset) for less money. The hobart 210mvp is compared to the 211 fairly often. There are machines from harbor freight (titanium 170? I don't remember their models) that are well reviewed and well liked.

As for the t94i....try to find one you can try on. Reviews are great but what a lot of people find comfortable might irritate you. Or the lens might bug you. Or who knows.

There's a lot of other stuff you might need to buy as well so remember to factor that in. Like consumables, wire, welding gas, fabrication tools if you don't have them (grinder, consumables for said grinders, ect)

Any suggestions to consider? I did look at TIGs and the price range, storage (i currently live in an apartment) and skill level were the main reasons that made me consider a MIG as I learn to weld.

Gotcha, Ill do more research on the hobart, the autoset is a feature that made me consider the 211 as it does the whole setting for you. Ill check out the HB one too. Thanks for the suggestions, and to your point, ill try and find local shops to go and check them out in person. Ive put on some basic ones and and welded like an idiot lol.

Got it on the additional items that i might need to purchase, trying to figure those out as well:D

I spent a day using the Hobart Iron Man 230?. It's a big, self contained 240 volt machine. It's bullet proof!

    No auto set.
    No bullshit digital screen.
    2 knobs.

It's dumb as a bag of hammers and I couldn't have been more impressed in great priced, transformer MIG welder.

Screens and options will just confuse you.

MIG welding is a great style of welding. I've been MIG welding for 30 years. If I need any TIG welding, I farm it out. I see no reason to try to master 2 styles of welding. MIG had done everything I need. It's made me a lot of money and still is.

That's just outstanding. Plasma table can make you so much money, and help the common everyday fabricator make his gear look so good. It's a win win for everyone concerned. Great job man.
