How about relocate the front cab mount to allow bigger tires without all the BS. a manual transfer case, and a manual trans with a normal shift pattern. all nitpicky stuff because the truck rocks as is.

2.0 turbo engine that revs to 12k rpm with 10 speed auto trans. Everything should be auto, trans, t-case, e-brake, climate control, etc...no manual bs. I hope everything is also made with non-standard parts so that nothing can be upgraded/changed aftermarket. Also don’t forget to software lock very module. Wheel wells should perfectly fit to the factory wheels with very little clearance, no more “will xxx fit” non-sense. Replace all dipsticks with electronic sensors and make the battery only replaceable by the dealer.

I dont think I'd change much, maybe as an ideal truck, I'd scale everything up (size) just a few notches, nothing huge just enough to give a few extra inches of cab space. Have to do it proportionally though, so increasing overall width/length ect. This is actually my hope for the next tundra, basically a 3g Tacoma, scaled up to full size with a v8 (I am also aware that this will never happen, but admit it it would be awesome!)

I want one that hovers. Like a helicopter. And a built in bazooka for when the light turns green and the idiot in front of me is playing on his phone.

I think the frame was intentionally not boxed to allow better flex. Thought I read that or saw that somewhere from Tacoma engineering team member.

TRD models from the factory with 33s and ability to put 35s in without rubbing issues, as said before with a redesigned cab mount.
Sold front axle, I like the Dana 44s like others have said—TRD Pro and Off-road only
    Factory triple locked. (TRD only)
Disc brakes on all 4 corners.
    Full underbody armor as option.
Steel bumpers as stated by others.
Single piece drive shaft to eliminate some of the driveline vibe issues.
3.0 turbo engine with the Lexus 8 speed transmission, beefed up. Shoot for around 325 hp and ft/lbs.

I think the truck is pretty good as is but I think the above on TRD Pro and Off-Road models would be killer.

I had a saturn and those plastic body panels were awesome! No rust, no dents, still wild to me that they put a space frame chassis in an economy car.

Great gas mileage, comfy seats, too bad it was made by GM, I loved it but it was such a piece of shit.

With all the new factory options/engines/models on Gladiator/Wrangler, Ford Bronco's, and new total refurbed 2021 Nissan Frontier, Toyota is going to have to do something soon with the Tacoma line to keep sales up.

Someone on here posted an interesting video of full sized truck crash tests, 2 trucks had fully boxed frames and the beds flexed into the back of the cabs, the other truck had C channel frame and the bed never touched the cab.

4th gen Tacoma is slated for 2024, likely to slip to 2025. Several truck manufacturers will have electrics out by then, so if Toyota doesn’t at least come out with a hybrid electric (my preference) or full electric Tacoma it will soon go the way of the dinosaur before 2027 with only diehards holding on to gas only engines. Toyota has the right approach with hybrids until battery technology improves but they best do it soon in the Tacoma. Would love to see electric independent front wheel drive and rear wheel engine drive for a 4WD combo in a hybrid. And rear wheel disk brakes :D

Access cab or bust! I really don't want to have to buy a double cab and I would like to keep my long bed.

Ironman Foamcell 3" lift, ARB dual compressor, GoPro mount, BadElf mount, Drive grab handle, RCI skids, Victory sliders, half rack, TuffStuff Alpha ll RTT, Dometic 75 Fridge, extra USB & Outlets
    1. home screen, every screen should display cell signal even with CarPlay
    2. Wireless car play
    3. Remote start should be standard, it’s 2020, my 2013 Jeep JKUR had it
    4. Doors should have a pocket(s) for stuff like gloves, tape measures, etc
    5. LED headlights, tail lights, etc
    6. Sport shifter should hold gears as selected
    7. Fuel door gas cap holder
    8. Mud flaps. It’s a Toyota 4x4, they should be on there and say 4x4
    9. Spare wheel, it should be a minimal cost option to get a matching spare wheel and TPS so it can be rotated in.
    10. 8 or 10 speed transmission, with 1st and maybe even 2nd gear for 4wd, giving the Tacoma a nice lower crawl ratio.
    11. Gauges should be easier to read in all daytime light conditions
    12. More rear leg room
    13. 8 way power passenger seat,(should of added, I am not always the driver and enjoy being comfortable)
    14. Stronger front wheel bearings, heard these need to be replaced if lifted
    15. USB and power outlets for the rear seats
    16. Hybrid option, full electric wouldn’t work very well in longer off road trips

Great list. My Camry has a fuel door gas cap holder—might seem insignificant but I do like it a lot.
Oh, and bring Cement back to the Pro.

I read that article when it came out, smart man. Unfortunately the high tech woo-woo fan club doesn’t care whether the electric power industry and infrastructure can support electric vehicles, they can’t see that far past the “latest thing”. Infrastructure will catch up after growing pains. Electrics are coming and Toyota hybrids are smart during the transition, they just need to be in the Tacoma ...like yesterday. A gas only engine for 2025 isn’t “diverse” it’s a soon to be extinct dinosaur.
