That’s a cool ole truck! One of our customers has the same truck but it’s 4WD, all original.

He started a frame off restoration several years ago and I heard him telling one of the other guys in the store the other day he gave it to his grandson to finish restoring.

That’s right! I have to be in the mood to do painting inside which reminds me I need to paint the trim in our kitchen that we redid 7 years ago :anonymous:

Hah, I'm way younger, but this post reminded me of learning to drive stick. Dad had just bought a 2001 Nissan Frontier back in 06ish? when I had my learners permit. Was the 5 speed. No farmers fields, but a couple large church parking lots. One of the last decent memories with him. Ironically my first stick vehicle was a 2004 Nissan Frontier. Loved that little truck! Sold my last personal manual car last month. My left knee occasionally gives me fits so it's only a matter of time... that and I'm just getting lazy...

Speaking of vehicle restorations, my first car was a 1987 Oldsmobile Delta 88. Bought it for $500 back in 2005. It was quite rusty, but only had 112K (somewhere around that). Me and my dad did a full repair and repaint on that thing. It was one the oldest cars in the school parking lot, but looked the best!

Sorry for the pictures and long post folks, just going down memory lane. As you see, I'm a jack of all trades

'70 Boss 429. Only made 'em 2 years, '69 & '70. Very low production, essentially hand built. A Holy Grail of the Mustang crowd. In good times, a quarter-million dollar car, all day long.

I'm not a Ford guy...just an old (motorhead) guy of that era. :burnrubber:

I heard them talking about they basically made them so they could run the engine in nascar, maybe? I was on my phone and was hearing bits and pieces.

I believe the guy he purchased it from was going to paint the entire truck but decided to leave the outside as is. I like it as is myself. I forget the year and details but possibly a common Napco 4x4 of the early years.20190915_111000.jpg

My buddy who runs the powdercoat place just sent me this picture. He said he has no idea why it’s on his sons door this morning

It says “fruit of the loom studio”

True this. Ford's answer to Ma Mopar's Hemi. Nascar said NOPE!

    I'd be half-afraid to open that door.....

Speaking of band saw use the other day, I have this tail light abomination removed and going to replace with some clear red and or gray smoke tint. Back in mid 70's no one give much thought to modifications to these older cars would be detrimental to their value 50 years later. I need a band saw to cut the new lens material. 20200525_190959.jpg

Yeah, Ford lost $$ on every one sold (to get the engine eligible for Nascar). It was a failed project for it's original intent. The drag strip saved it though.

Yes 1968 convertible. Muncie 4 speed. I've never had the privilege to run through the gears on a old 4 speed muscle car of those days. I'm going to get that chance, but it's gonna cost me

I purchased the car from a coworker who bought it in mid to late seventies while he was in high school. He was a friend of a guy who worked for Ecklers when they were located in the midwest and said guy put the fiberglass kit on it. My coworker then went into the Navy and drove it drag raced, up until mid 80's when he parked it.

Thought so, gonna be a great project! You'll find that 'those old 4-speeds' are a whole different animal than what people are used to in manual shift Taco's, (in a good way)!:burnrubber:
