Did he leave Ohio State for a reason other than health? They’re not under investigation, so he must hate his family life to get back into coaching if health really is a concern.

You recruit well when you play well
To be fair, reports have been having Jim Harbaugh taking various NFL positions ever since he took over at Michigan. I'll believe this information about Meyer when I see it.

Very random, but just something I’ve been pondering lately:

Saban and Mack brown are both 69 (niiiiccceee) years old. Both have won championships. Both have made a great life for themselves and their families. At what point do you hang it up and actually enjoy the fruits of your labor? I mean I know Saban enjoys it when he wins another title, obviously. But the story is always that the next day, he’s recruiting or back in the office doing something. Mack took some time off, but is back and kicking ass. There really is no “off season” anymore. You’ve coached football for like 40+ years...when do you kick back and relax and enjoy time with family and those gazillions of dollars you’ve made?

I love watching Saban coach. Kirby came from his coaching tree and coaches just like him (with more mistakes). I’m one of the few non-Bama fans that actually likes him, so I’ll hate to see him retire. But, damn, he could ride off after the 11th and enjoy the rest of his life without ever having to worry about anything ever again. :notsure:

From my understanding, it was purely health related. Ive also been reading/seeing for a few years that he’s wanted a NFL gig. The jags job makes sense because there aren’t exactly a lot of expectations and he would have the #1 pick in the draft so he could draft the QB he wants to build around. Rumors were going around last year that Jerry wanted to sign him to coach Dallas. Too much pressure there. Don’t think his ol’ heart could handle it.

You can recruit well when you're mediocre too. UT is a case in point.

Saban loves what he does, would die of bordem in retirement and has already said he has no plans to retire anytime soon. You want to super size those fries?

Who's going to be the next fired coach to enter the Saban rehab portal?

I’m sort of surprised RichRod hasn’t ended up with him given they’re from within 30 minutes of each other back in WV (tho Rod is def a redneck) and it would bounce him back to HC jobs immediately.

So urban is goin to the Jags, and possibly Mullen to the Jets?

I mean I wouldn’t blame him. He went 8-4 with the best team UF has had in almost a decade...
