Mine is scheduled for delivery tomorrow...but it hasn't registered in the tracking system since it left Portland on the 29th. It updated as "In Transit, Arriving On Time" on Jan 1 but hasn't changed since then. I'm betting I won't see it for awhile.

The metal on the included u-clip nut is very thin and feels very cheap. However, the "strength" of the assembly is in the threads from the nut itself that is affixed to the back of the flimsy clip material. So, technically the "cheap" nut included in the kit should provide better clamping force than even a much higher quality u-clip nut that you could get from an auto parts store that has the one-piece, formed threads. That is because the threads on the formed clip nut should yield/deform/strip before a typical nut would.

That being said, I'm still going to first try to use the auto parts store version for a few of my own subjective reasons.
    1. The self-centering version of this clip style will hopefully assist in assembly
    2. I don't think that threads will be the weak point of this assembly as you are looking at clamping plastic (handle and pillar) to metal, so the threads should be more than strong enough.
    3. If for some reason the threads start to fail/DAH loosens, I can try it again with a better clip or the type that is included in the kit. If I used the included clip nut and for some reason/any reason the tack welds break on the nut, then I would be pretty much screwed for removing the pillar and handle as the bolt would just spin, spin, spin. Again, the assembly shouldn't have THAT much torque on it or enough to break the nut free, but if I'm already questioning the QC on everything............ THAT is definitely something I don't want to find out the hard way. Anyone who has had a weld-nut break free on them will understand what I'm saying here.

More than likely 100% fine to use the included hardware, but that's my OCD again.

There is now a list on her website of those that need to pay for shipping. Was posted on Facebook but the list is on the order site. Looks like 15 people still to go. Should of sent an actual email. Not everyone that ordered uses Facebook or is on here I would suspect.

    :poking:

UPDATE: I have updated the Pre-Order List on the website with only the individuals that are left to pay shipping. Everyone else I have printed labels and have shipped your packages. I will continue to update this list as payments come in and I print labels. Please take a look at the list on the website if you are someone that has not yet received your tracking number and you had a Pre-Order.

Sounds like she lied to you. I too chose priority mail and the tracking info shows she shipped priority mail.

Exactly. I’ve been on here and social media more in the past month than I have in a long time just trying to see if I missed something...

Ditto, paid shipping separately and chose priority mail and mine was shipped priority mail. If it is a manual process, that means she wasn't paying attention when printing all of them.

She's excellent with who owes what but can't seem to organize a party of one. I get where this is going.

FWIW, Sparks Toyota sells a retrofit kit using an OEM handle, but with an extruded U-nut (per the picture in the instructions) found here. Found some discussion over on Tundras over here

I 100% love the idea of being able to use OEM Toyota parts - handle and pillar trim. I wish Toyota had the same for the Tacoma. What I don't like about this Sparks kit is using SAE fasteners along with the OEM metric fasteners. Really? Any of you old guys like me remember having to switch back and forth from metric to SAE tools when working on cars back in the 80s?????

Thanks for posting this here. It’s hard to be sure of anything, and not everyone who preorders wants to burn time refreshing IG or FB because there’s no way to tell if your order is just a month late or pending a shipping surcharge or whatever.

When (if?) I ever get mine, I’m going to print this entire thread and make a papier-mâché grab handle effigy that I’m going to burn at a bonfire here in SoCal. Everyone’s invited.

Both/everything. Everyone gets different directions and times to the spot. Preorders fund the skunky beer but are served last or not at all with sand in their Solo cups.

Be sure to do a few one-arm pull-ups on the grab handle.
