Me, too. 10 times so far. 1378 miles, only stopping for fuel and bathroom purposes. 23 hours was the worst trip, 19 hours was the best.

You need to add some dedicated winter tires to the mix. Just so you can have some good comparisons to share here. You know for science!

I agree with rotating/swapping tires with regular maintenance. Dedicated wheels make it easy.
I only had the one set on my Fiat. Thankfully I have a buddy with a tire machine in his garage.

Its good to get the wheels off and look things over.
Plus it keeps the wheels from corroding in place in our winter salt environment.

I've spent too much time in the past beating wheels off with a 4x4 block and a sledge hammer.

It’s not hard... just not necessary to do all the time.

Put a layer of copper anti seize on the hub where the wheel contacts and you won’t have to worry about them getting stuck.

I have been using a thin coat of good high temp Kluber grease on the backside and hub of the wheels. That does the trick for me. Nowadays I only have issues when it's not my vehicle I'm working on.

    Funny how that works!

btw, Discount Tires did a great job on mine, other than the fact that they forgot to put the center caps back on the wheels on the passenger side. Ooops! I hope they didn’t throw them away.

No complaints with discount tire here either, other than overinflated tires. I kept my center caps away from them just in case.

I need to do that next time. I had 3/4 of mine that one of the tabs got bent over so it didn’t sit right.

Yea, I just figured there’s gotta be a 10% chance they break something removing or putting them back on, safer if I keep it out of their hands.

Lol! I will need a second garage just for tires.

That said, given enough space to store them, I would love to see what a 4runner with snow tires would be like! It's already a beast on good AT's.

If you're only getting 50K out of your tires, it might be worth doing it more often. My last few sets of tires have worn very evenly and slowly. I could have easily gotten 75K+ out of my KO2's at the rate they were going.

Good idea! I remember beating the crap out of the wheels on my older vehicles to get them off.

This seems typical of them. They seem to inflate to LT pressure whether you put on LT's or SL's. I like the place, but they do employ a lot of younger kids. They put mis-matched KO2's on my 4runner, with 2 being load range C and two being load range E. I was glad I checked, and they did fix it right away.

I haven't had this happen at Discount, but MR. P's broke two of them on my GF's TC and basically told her shit happens and sent her on her way. They were nice enough to tell her how she could glue them back on.

So, to recap: Don't go to Mr. P's tire!!!

    They suck

Another alternative to antisieze on the hub is fluid film. Works well and slightly less messy. Also, I've been running dedicated winter tires on my last 4 vehicles and will continue to do so as the difference between an AT tire and dedicated winter is very noticeable.

I wish we had enough winter here to justify dedicated winter tires.

It's pretty much the same here. It's definitely worthwhile in a FWD car, but I have had good luck with 3PMSF tires on my trucks.

Further north in the state, or living in areas where they don't plow and salt the crap out of the roads, I would probably get some winter tires for the 4runner.

I’m sure I could have gotten more but I replaced them before winter. Well worth it for the way winter and the roads get around here.

    That's understandable.

I've been lucky enough to keep finding excuses to replace tires early. Now I have 17 or 18K on these Toyos and I already want another set. They're in great shape. I just have a tire addiction or something.

I'm still not sure why everyone seems to think I've gone off the deep end for wanting to run a set of MT's half the year. I may regret it in the end, but it's my money. If I really hate it, I can always put the Toyos back on.

I've heard very good things about the Yokohama Geolander MT's as far noise levels, on road traction and comfort.

Everyone here knows I'm not a wannabe influencer. I just want something that I'll have a little more confidence in for screwing around in the rocks.

And, yeah, I think they will look good. It wouldn't be the first time anyone here did something for cosmetic reasons, though.

Hey man, I'm in the same boat! My family actually teases me about buying my "yearly" set of tires. I think you running some muds part time is awesome. I totally understand wanting good looking tires too. I'm actually probably going to get rid of my summer tires I got this summer because I don't like how they look :anonymous:
