Buiolding a coilover

I was looking at the toytec site, and noticed they have a kit that comes unassembled, but with the parts to build a coilover.

I got to thinking, what if I could buy just the threaded part, and put it on my bilstein shocks, with say an eibach or ome coil..



see the threaded part? yea that!
It looks like it replaces the bottom plate that holds the coil, am I right?

Your thoughts?

I don't see why not. Contact Toytec and see if they would be will to just sell you the threaded part.

 

I would bet they are some sort of washers to make adjustments easier and less harsh on the parts.

Subscribed. I was under the assumption that you couldn't buy the threaded part seperate.

 

Just food for thought, but the coil spring that toytec uses with their kits is flat on both the top and bottom. Not tapered like the ones they sell separately. That may be an issue when trying to fit a different coil onto it, since the threaded adjustable part is flat.

 

Yes that could be an issue, are eibach's flat on the bottom? the top can be normal..

 

I'm pretty sure they're all tapered at the bottom. Not 100% on that though

do you know if it will be an issue with the springs being flat vs tapered on the ends?
using the stock top plates, we only need 1 flat end..

i remember reading about someone trying to buy that collar from them back when i was looking at lifts. they are pretty expensive, i think they were over $300. it has been some time since i read it, i can't remember right off the top of my head.
