35s need quite a bit of trimming, but they do look good. 255/85R16 have been a good combo for me over the years. Then again one could split the difference with a 285/75R17 for a 34" tire. No matter which way you go, it will be a fun project

Wow, WTH American Toyota. My father took the 2nd gen in before he handed it off to me and it looks like they spilled half a bottle of power steering fluid everywhere!

and big overspray on the battery terminal sealant.

also, anyone that wants that grill, brush, whatever guard that was on there, PM me (i believe will fit all 2nd gens)

I’m not surprised it doesn’t seem like either dealership in town has been doing great work the past 5 years or so.

Well the last time I took my 1st gen to a dealer was 6 years ago so I must have caught their last good mechanic.

Well I bought the raptor grill after a few beers the other night and not sure I love it.

We will see once I get the full-hoop C4 hybrid bumper on there, might move to the pro grill

And who said the very slanted trunk of a ‘72 Saab can’t be a good work workbench

Howdy! Not a resident but I’ll be living here for the next few months. Planning on exploring some of the national parks in NM, and the neighboring states. Would be pretty cool if others wanted to explore too!

I had that same grill on my ‘06. I liked it much better after I painted the surround to color match the truck.

Very first service with American Toyota they damaged the rims with a rotation. Service manager said that was normal.... They ended up replacing the rims in the end

In what world is it normal lol, glad you stuck it to them. I had Discount in Santa Fe scratch up my brand new wheels when they mounted them back in like 2014. It was covered by the center caps and I didn't notice until a good while later, too late to make a fuss. Unless I'm having tires mounted I don't take it anywhere, do all the rotations and services myself.

When I do take it, I stand near enough to watch what they're doing, as long as I'm not in the bay or interfering of course. Most tire techs these days are high school kids wanting to do everything as fast as possible with no real skills or attention to detail.

The solution is to take your rig out wheeling. The wheels get scratched. Then if they get scratched during a tire rotation you won’t even notice!

@Ripcord has this exact setup and getting 17 MPG, and im too lazy to do it myself

Now I would not care as much. At the time it was new and their attitude did not help. When given the option for Pro wheels the decision was a no brainer :)

I'd get the entire assembly from ECGS and install yourself. I can appreciate just wanting it done, but knowing it is done right is worth more in MHO. I've seen work done by a number of local shops and can't believe what has left their shop.

If I ever get around to regearing the great white pig (4runner), that's what I'll do. Doesn't look too hard with the assembled units.
