He probably is referring to the lack of low end torque at low rpms in the 3rd gen V6 due to the Atkinson diet cycle.

I have the 4 cyl 2.7L, good low end torque. I thought I saw on TW the V6 low end torque/Atkinson cycle could be remedied with a tune, you may know better than me.

Figured, but as a 3rd gen owners it's required to give a little ritz :D

    It can, and it's fantastic.

SCS SR8’s 16x8 (4.00" BS 6x139.7). Purchased used, repainted satin black, sanded rings to bare metal, added the TRD stickers and removed the silver bolts around ring.

Since those pics, I’ve ruffed up the rings a bit more with corse sandpaper to have less bling.

I have ‘20 SR V6 4x4 (bought it in September) and I love it. I plan on adding new wheels/tires soon, cause the steelies are ugly :anonymous:

I’ve just done cosmetic mods to it so far.

looks great! You can purchase the flat TRD silver center caps with the red logo and use them on there as well.

That was my plan, but they were out of stock last time I checked, have not looked recently. Used them on my 2019 with Ray-10’s .

Very happy with my choice of the 2020 SR DCSB V6 4WD. My off roading adventures take place in the AZ desert. No need for crawl control or lockers. I've done a few things to make it into the truck I want. It's a very capable off road vehicle that checks the boxes for what I wanted.

Last October I called my salesperson and reserved an SR, picked it up in December and I am pleased with the truck. My 08 TRD is one of my favorite trucks that I’ve owned and I’ve owned all brands and this is my fourth Tacoma (two 2wd and two 4x). The reasoning for the SR was pricing and value. My requirements that I stated to my salesperson were, remote keyless entry, Apple CarPlay, reverse camera to make hitching up easy, auto and V6. I didn’t care about anything else. I knew that I would do some add ons and I see no point in paying extra for some of the stuff that I will be changing out and I don’t need or want all kinds of bells and whistles. My 2018 F150 was loaded up and I didn’t use much of it at all, the Trailer Reverse Assist is ridiculous in my opinion because if you can’t reverse a trailer, I believe that you shouldn’t be pulling it forward either.

My boss bought a TRD access cab and a Pro double cab in 2020, he lifted both trucks and put on aftermarket wheels and 285’s. That to me is a waste but if you’ve got the cash to burn I guess its ok. I realize that those models come with a bunch of other things but I don’t need Crawl Control. My first Toyota 4x4 was a 1982, then I had a 1994, then the 2008. The first two were bone stock except the 82 had add a leafs front and rear, thing rode like shit but with 31x10.50’s and open diffs I went everywhere that Rangers and other trucks would get stuck behind me. The 94 was bone stock and it went everywhere I needed. My 08 was bone stock and I never really used the locker, only for shits and giggles. We don’t have any rock crawling trails here, we do mostly sandy beaches and more muddy situations than anything else.

The 2021 SR feels like my 08 which is a good thing since I liked that truck so much, its the same truck to me, feels like it. Engine and trans is different but ride and feel are much the same as I’m not mashing the accelerator through the floorboard at every stop sign. I’ve already done a few things and at 35k out the door for me, I got some cash to do the upgrades that I want and not having excess stuff I don’t.

What was your OTD on this? I'm looking at basically the same truck. Wondering what I can get for a leftover 2020

29K OTD including running boards and mudflaps, at the time march 2020 there was a 1500$ rebate, and I am in Oregon so no sales tax but there was the .5 percent luxury tax and of course dmv, all of that is included in the 29K. Does not include lighted visors or tire upgrade. Hope that helps, best of luck to you.

Picked up my SR 3 weeks ago. MGM 4cyl with the SX package. It's my first truck, I'm surprised at how bumpy the ride is but I am still loving it.

My headliner is not flush with the glass, is that common?

Not sure if 2020 SR5 counts, but I specifically wanted it to have the ear axle without the e-locker so I could go front/rear air lockers. Heavily modified now, but as a base vehicle it was what I wanted to start from. Has all the basic things you need to go with a build somewhere between a trophy truck and base Tacoma.

this was after I took my 09 OR for a swim, so the insurance gave me a good start on paying for the 2020 that I started from.

I have the same truck. First thing I did was peel that ugly sticker off the side. What about the headliner? What do you mean not flush? Where is the tow hitch?
