Same here. I don't know anyone who owns one or have any experience with them. I'm pretty sure they just make replicas. Not my cup of tea.

This is a long video and it's 3 years old, but still relevant. Can't go wrong with any of the 9mms he reviews. Note- S&W released the M&P 2.0 Compact after his review (Glock 19 size). He reviews the M&P 2.0 Full Size.

I have their 9mm carbine and love it for what it is. A simple coke-can plinker that is reliable and reasonably accurate. Wrap it with an Hightower armory stock that was more expensive than the gun itself and it's a laugh riot. It gets a lot of compliments and questions at the range, followed by an awkward shuffling away when I say "its a hipoint."

That said, I wouldnt ever buy one of their handguns. Those are like holding a brick with a pistol grip.

I’ve been reading up on this new Taurus 9mm that has a 13-round capacity; I do not remember what model it is as I do not have the magazine article present; It retails for only $300, and everything I’ve read about it indicates that it is a good gun.

My friend who gave me the magazine featuring the article on this gun thinks I should at least testfire it, and I agree with him.

Another Aspie I know who owns hundreds of guns tells me to avoid new Taurus handguns because the quality can be unpredictable and every once in a while one comes off the line with defects or quirks; This same guy tells me that most used Tauruses are a good buy because the seller knows their history.

I know two Aspies who are love the sport of shooting and guns in general; However, one thing that can negatively affect those of us on the spectrum well into adulthood would be loud noises. When I was like 3 or 4, I was scared of the heat pump in my aunt and uncle’s backyard and at least once ran into the house crying when the damn thing came on; HVAC has since become one of my many obsessions, so that should tell you something...

I was also scared of the pressure-flush toilets found in most public restrooms, and I also got over that!

I had been wanting to go shooting for some time, and when my friend took me to the range last September, I amazed even myself! My friend, who is neurotypical but knew about the sensory issues that came with having Aspergers, started me out on a .22 to give me a feel; As stated before, I loved it!

The only Taurus Hi Cap/full size I'll recommend without reservation is the PT92/99 series. Those were probably some of the best semi auto handguns Taurus ever made and as good as Beretta M9's. I think the safety of the earlier ones on the frame was a far better ergonomic design.

And yes, Taurus is a hit or miss company when quality is under scrutiny.

I have 6 Taurus and 2 Rossi handguns, I only had a problem with one. My 44 special revolver had a clock timing issue, I had bought it used and Taurus stood behind their warranty and fixed it for free. That thing came back cleaner and in better shape than I had ever seen it in

Is Rossi a subsidiary of Taurus? Did the gun have to go to Brazil for repairs or do they do they repairs in America?

Repairs were handled in Florida. Rossi and Taurus are one company now, they were associated before.

Charlie - If you can go back to that range with your friend, do it, and see if they'll let you shoot a variety of 9mm pistols before you buy anything.

Absolutely agree with this. You can have the best pistol ever made and if it doesn't fit your hand, you'll never like it or shoot it well.

You can rent all sorts of guns at that place, including fully automatic weapons, but I'm not entirely sure if they have Taurus. I have my heart set on a Glock 19 or one of their 9mm crossovers, but Taurus and S&W are coming in at a close second and third, respectively; The biggest things that are keeping me from going back to the range are COVID, my schedule, and my friend's schedule :(

You owe it to yourself to try out the S&W M&P line. Decent prices and ergonomically heads and shoulders above a Glock.

I understand, but buying a firearm is a serious matter. With your limited experience, I would not recommend buying something that you've not fired.
My range has made appropriate accomodations for Covid. If you're serious about this...you can make it happen!

First 9mm I ever fired; LOVED IT! Heavy enough that it didn't have a punishing recoil, but light enough that it was great for concealed carry!

Buying a gun you've never fired is like buying a vehicle you've never test driven or marrying a woman you've never slept with! I will not buy anything I haven't tried out; What even better is that Guardian Trading Center not only rents a large selection of firearms, but will let you test out anything they've got for sale on the range before you buy!

Most reputable ranges will do that.
