    Hey guys,

    I have a Toyota Prado 2007 with 4 cylinder 2.7 engine, (TRJ120L - 4 Cylinder 2.7 - 2TR-FE) This engine is exactly the same as the Tacoma.

My car does not have a LOW Coolant Warning Light.

I already fix my leak. I just want to have an early warning

Just recently I was checking my oil level and to my surprise there was no coolant on the coolant reservoir and that way I found I have a leak on the thermostat housing.

I already fix my leak. I just want to have an early warning if in the future I have a low coolant...........

Do you know if there is available a LOW Coolant Sensor that I can install on the Coolant Reservoir and wire it to a warning light inside the car? Or maybe a aftermarket one?

I just want to have an early warning before the engine overheat and goes FUBAR

Have any of you have installed one on your Tacoma?

    Thx guys,

    Isaac

As you can see there is not low coolant sensor

The US trucks didn’t get one either so I’m going to say no. Only way would be to make something yourself.

That thing looks nice! My only concern is if it will work Ok with the hot coolant

Also since I have to drill a hole in the lower part of the plastic reservoir I don't know if the hot coolant will make the rubber soft and it will leak from there.

I am going to write to does guys to check with them

My low coolant sensor works by opening the hood and looking at the reservoir, lol. You should get under the hood on a regular basis to check fluids and do inspections at least every month or two depending on how much you drive.

It looks like your "coolant bypass pipe #1" is due for replacement. This is a known/potential issue on the 05-08 2TR-FE engines. (I say potential because not all 05-08 engines develop this leak.) Replace it with the metal pipe from 2009+ models, do a search and you will get lots of info.

Good catch, it does appear that that connection is the source of the leak
