New Owner Lift Advice

Hey Guys,

I just purchased an 08 Taco TRD and am considering my options as far as a lift kit goes. I don't want to do anything drastic, but I would like to be able to fit somewhat larger tires on the truck..maybe 265/75 17 or 285/70 17. Regardless, I would like any and all input/advice when it comes to lifting. I would like to lift 3" and if I do so it would be with a simple kit like.... Is there anything else I should consider installing if this is the kit I choose? I've read things like a diff drop would be a good idea, but am curious if anyone has any feedback/comments?

Ultimately the goal is to lift the truck, install bigger tires, while not sacrificing reliability/longevity, while keeping it as cheap as possible.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

 

Get the Long Travel Kit BY ALL Pro . Go with 285 tires. I have the Pro comp Stage II with Coil overs and wish i would have gone with the Long travel kit but oh well.

 

I would recommend taking just a step farther, and getting a set of Bilstein 5100s instead of going with a spacer lift up front. The 5100s will provide 2.5" of lift up front, plus you get a better shock with bigger piston, and improved valving at the same time.
For the rear either the single, or 3 leaf aal will work great. The 3 leaf will provide a smoother ride than the single leaf setup.

Manwithoutaplan: That set up looks great, but quite a bit more than I'd like to spend.

YotaDan: I like the idea of the 5100's up front. Is that all I'd require for the front..what about the rear, beyond the AAL.

98Tacoma27: That first kit from ToyTec is pretty much exactly what I'm looking for in terms of price/ease of installation. Would I need anything else ie: diff drop?

Keep in mind that I don't really plan on doing any offroading, and if so very light (I baby my vehicles). I'm really just interested in the look, without sacrificing reliability.

Go with 5100 all around, diff drop, aal on rear, and don't forget light racing upper control arms. This a perfect daily driver set up.
