Got a couple things in the mail today. Figured I'd try some generic batteries. $40 for 2 kinda hard to pass up for 6ah m12 batteries.

How are the Tekton torque wrench?

Are they accurate, durable? Been looking at the 1/2 torque wrench.

I have the 1/2 and I like it a lot. I originally got it because I needed one that went high enough for the 173 torque value of the CV axle nut. I've never tested it's accuracy but I've also never had a problem with it. Seems like it works fine.

By reading your posts, you're using the torque wrench more than I ever will. If it handling your abuse it's must be good.

I picked up this GearWrench Electronic torque wrench to replace a 30 year old Craftsman clicker.

I originally bought a CDI wrench but didn't like it and sent it back. The GearWrench has a better ratchet, more features and was a heck of a lot cheaper than the CDI.

Curious, what didn’t you like about the CDI?

Glad you’re happy w the Gearwrench

    Happy New Year all!

The CDI wrench (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000I1ZMCW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) had a fairly coarse ratchet (by today's standards) and there was a lot of side to side play in the flex part so I didn't feel like it would be very good in tight places. Plus, when I tried using it, I was only able to get within about 5 - 10% of my setting. I would stop when it told me to and when I looked at the actual torque that I applied, it was consistently higher or lower than the set value.

I know there is a learning curve when going from a clicker to an electronic wrench but I was able to get much more consistent and accurate results right from the start when using the GearWrench.

I recently picked up one of these and I must say, it’s already making its way into my top 10 favorite tools. It’s incredibly handy having the extra leverage as well as the flexible head. It has smooth ratcheting as well. I’m going to pick up a 3/8” drive next time I’m at HF. DB89DBC2-168E-4FD2-B0E7-AF7B28BF4917.jpg

I recently got this 3/8" drive GearWrench ratchet to replace an old Craftsman that has a failing reversing lever. I never liked the handle on the Craftsman which for some reason is square on the end instead of rounded like my other Craftsman ratchets.

The GearWrench ratchet seemed (to me) to have the best combination of features, function, quality and price for a home mechanic and I'm really looking forward to that comfort grip. I think I paid about $65 which probably included some sort of holiday promotion.

The square handle craftsman ratchets and wrenches have are the biggest issue I have with their tools. Gearwrench is very good, all my ratcheting wrenches are theirs along with two ratchets I really like as well.

I have a set of 90 tooth Kobalts. (Not the set of three, they have inferior parts). Buy the separate ones. They have had the different sizes on sale at different times.

I waited and got all three on sale. They are so much nicer than my 20+ year old Craftsman stuff.

Which one is that? I have the older XRM04B and LOVE it. I use it all the time. That one looks much more compact.
