Hello there. I am Julia, first post.

I have a leased 2018 SR utility 4 cyl tacoma. It has been a great truck. I have 45k trouble free miles. My lease ends may 1.

I don’t have a lot of money and my truck isn’t modified. I see lots of nice trucks on this site. Those are my dream.

I am a small time independent farmer and after 3 years I need a truck with bigger space. This time I would like to keep it 10 years, a d do a lease and then buy it out.

I am looking for 2021 Cement DCLB 4wd

I am in CA (joshua tree). I went to lease hacker forum and dealer in PA doing 174$ SR v6 4x4 leases.

Another CA dealer doing 325$ deals on dclb.

so even though msrp is the same, dealers seem to have multiple different payments on different coasts.

    I can do max MSD.
I am willing to ship or travel if need be.

Other forums seem to have dealers who are forum friendly. Do we have anything like that here ?

My friend suggested getting a 5 feet DCSB and bed extender.

I really need the 6 feet bed for hauling my products

I am torn as most dealers won’t take order and tell me to check back in March

I hope to receive some help from this forum.

I’ve never leased, just purchased so I don’t know much about that, I’d think you would be money ahead purchasing rather than leasing and then purchasing though since the residual value of the truck will be high. Now is not the best time to buy though due to inventory shortages. If you can wait a few months and allow inventory to catch up, it’s not (or wasn’t) uncommon to buy at 10-12% below msrp and interest rates will likely stay cheap for awhile. If I were you I’d start saving until May, and try to get a sizable down payment and start watching the 21 price thread. When prices come down and are not selling at msrp (maybe by May, maybe a little later) be ready to travel to where you find the best deal. I am lucky to have several volume dealers near me. I bought my 19 OR LB when the 20s were arriving at the lot and ended up at $33,500 msrp $39,800. There are no actual Toyota dealers that post here that I’m aware of, but plenty of knowledge from most regions in the country.

My other issue is locally I can’t get a SR5 DCLB
Toyota doesn’t sell that in so cal in 4x4 guise

has to be OR or Sport - that makes the truck very expensive

if I buy in nor cal they have DCLB Sr5 4x4

I hope whatever you're hauling is light because Tacomas have terrible payload ratings. A new DCLB is rated at only 1105 lbs. That includes passengers.

Wouldn't it just be cheaper in the end to finance and actually own it rather than leasing? Look for a double cab long bed

From what I have read on here it's impossible to get a good deal in Southern California . Most seem to go to Arizona or further , good luck .

One of the great things about buying a new truck (and being self employed) is that the cost could be potentially a 100% tax write off based on your work, not to mention the lower costs for health insurance that it brings if you buy through the marketplace (which is also a write off). If you can afford a $600 payment and $2,000 down you can get the Toyota Tacoma of your dreams as a business expense.. Just make sure you only use it for work :p

    you are correct.

    Lease

    TRD OR DCLB 4x4
    $40,900 msrp
    39 month lease x$385 a month + $1000 down = $16015

    Buy at end = 31,145 + $3000 tax

    $50145 total spent

    ———
    same truck purchase
    40,900 + 4000 (tax) = $44900
    72 month 2.9% = monthly payment
    $680 a month. Total payment $48974

this isnt fully apples to oranges as it assumes end of lease I have full cash to purchase truck.
To make it even, if I did purchase over 39 months Its total $47103

This doesn’t take into account doing full MSD and lease specials they run at times

For the record my current 2018 Tacoma poverty spec utility - msrp was 24k and I paid 21k

Well if you need an excellent health insurance broker, let me know. I work with farmers all the time.. but their farms have a notorious skunky smell, as some would say.

If you plan to keep it, you’re giving money away if you lease it. The lower payments are tempting but if you want to keep it I bet it'll run and do what you need longer than you need it to. Just buy it!

Yes I would like to keep it.

I kept my t100 15 years. Then leased a 2018 $(180 payment) to get me through.

Now time to buy my last truck and make it last 15 years

My 21 is my first tacoma and the first vehicle I've been this excited about. I hope to drive it into the ground. From what I've seen from other toyotas, it'll do it! You're going to have a nice upgrade buy or lease anyway

The Leashackr dealer in PA is a great deal for the SR v6 4X4 but I believe those are only for the short beds.
