I was gifted a 31M cage a while ago and am now looking to upgrade. Is there anything I should know before hand like cranking amps etc...?

I had a 31m optima and after a year, it froze and cracked in 10 degree weather. I had to fight hard to get them to warranty it, because it "they don't warranty frozen batteries" even though the blue top is rated down to -20 or something.

Anyways, I got a X2power 27F and it has better specs than the larger optima. Been going strong for a couple of years now. I love it.

I'm not necessarily hard on my batteries but I've had not even a hiccup with my 27f. I throw it on the charger every so often and she's been solid. I even got Toyota to warranty the OEM for the X2

Remember when optima used to be the bees knees?

Went to autozone for an AAF this weekend and this lady with a jeep was being sold on an optima battery. I couldn't say anything because I know nothing about batteries, thus my post. But if I only knew I would tell her to at least research it before pulling the trigger.

@EatSleepTacos one question though, should I be worried about the amperages etc... or is the link you provided to me the exact thing I need and shouldn't run into any issues? Thanks man.

That link is the exact thing that many people are running on here. I have basically the same thing, just a slightly smaller size (27F).

Read about the platform cracking for some people too. I don't do any kind of heavy offroading since I have a rwd, but I drive on CA freeways which is pretty much offroading. So I'm hoping I don't get that issue.

Can confirm, CA freeways are rough (that's where I grew up). It's a hefty bitch but you should be alright.

Have you considered adding it as a second battery and keeping your starter battery stock? I think it’s a better option for running stuff with a high power demand.

I definitely could, but was hoping only to spend the money on a single battery right now. I don't have any accessories to run of it yet but have future plans for at minimum a light bar for my roof rack.

    KISS.
I didn’t run lights, but I had a few always hot usb outlets and I kept a ARB fridge running 24/7. The only time I need to worry was when I left the truck sitting for about 5 days, but the ARB would turn itself off and the battery would start the truck.
I was thinking of a dual battery set up in my Tacoma, but think I will go with a 31m and put the second battery in the trailer.
