Has anybody advice about painting stock rims? I’d like to get rid of the silvery part and paint them. Good idea?

Not my style (the whole blackout thing).

However, I'd recommend using a reversible method, like vinyl overlays or even (gag, wheeze) PlastiDip. Just to see if you really like the resulting look before ruining your wheels.

Ruining you say? Why ruined? Because prepping the wheel for a proper paint job will ruin the OE finish, at least in terms of 'never going back' to the way it was.

I was curious to see what my rims would look like painted so I went the PlastiDip route figured it was better than "ruining" the rims as you mentioned because you're right after prepping or even painting without prepping they will never be the same. I take the truck off-road fairly often and the PlastiDip hasn't held up very well it's definitely more for people that stay on road.

Here is a pic of my rims before an after. The rims are dirty in the after picture but they don’t clean up as well anymore.
