vF Tuner for the 3.5L Tacoma

Those versions are outdated (used back when the program was Orange Virus or OVTune) and no longer used.
2.0 is what is offered now.
Premium is for higher octane, regular is for regular octane.

 

The other ones are legacy tunes and didn’t exist for 2020 trucks and some others.

I had mine lock up from b03 to b04 due to battery issues. PCM flash fixed it. No worries.

 

Gotta say, i was on 2.0 premium thx for a while. It really settled in nicely. I flashed to m+w 3.1 with some agm and tire size tweaks, was impressed with low end off the line, but feel there is torque missing at higher end, especially when climbing hills in 4th or 5th gear.

I also have been on dacruiser for a week and still the same issue, missing torque at higher end. The trans shifts to 3rd gear when before I could easily cruise up some of my highway hills in 4th or 5th without downshifting.

I appreciate everyone’s time on these custom tunes, but I’m happier on Mat’s 2.0 tune. Am very excited to see his performance and gear lock tune drop.

That’s the first time I’ve heard someone say there’s not enough “high end torque”. But I know every truck is different. There’s not a hill that my truck can’t go up in 4th, most in 5th.
Hopefully OVtune’s performance tunes and new updates to Vftuner get released soon and give you what you want. Good luck!

 

Maybe it’s throttle position? I just feel a dead pedal and give it a little more on the throttle and it shifts to 3rd gear. Didn’t happen before.

Yup. A61 works. The ”About...” version is updated as well. Impressive.

 

I found same issues with these tunes when you start climbing.
I believe these 2 tables are making things slow at a higher loads (we just copied what the boss sent).

I rolled back changes to these 2 table and the truck drives the same and has more balls on the inclines.

Also , every time the changes made to throttle limits/per gear, the shift points are moving. The concept of holding longer gears is not working in hilly terrain. In most cases you will hit a high load before you reach the shift points. No surprise that you downshifted all the way to 3rd.
I think the tuning by messing with airloads/shift points hit its limits.

 

So what’s the easiest/best way to update vf tuner?

also if I have bought the 3.5 tune pack for 04b04. When the “2.0 performance tune” becomes available will it automatically be up loaded to my files when I do an update? Or will I have to request from @OVTune

Just download it .....and install the new version. No need to uninstall the old.

I'm not sure if Mat has released how that will happen .......... also .... in case you haven't heard..... Mat will proobably not be posting on this formum.

Has anyone successfully been able to change the ignition timing? I've messed with the Atkinson compensation table, the retard table, and the base table and none of them seem to have affected my timing...

 

I worked on this a few month’s ago and was PMing with OVtune. Made some changes and saved them. But I was just getting bread crumbs of information from Mat. No specifics. If you want the files or screenshots of our conversation, let me know. I was never brave enough to run the tune.
