I would not be happy with that lack of service either.

It's both amazing and amusing to hear of some worst case reliability issues over various makes and models. I have no doubts that regardless of make and model some are just a dud, for lack of better terms. Then some vehicles like newer GM trucks a few guys I know are having transmission problems as if products are released without a good real world testing scenario.?? I think another neat thread would be cheapest most reliable! I bought a geo metro used with 250k miles for $250.00 drove it for a year 20k miles no issues. ( Toyota/GM partnership I think) Then there's scenario where someone buys a new 60k dollar diesel and mods it all up and wonders why it's a pos? All kinds of crazy out there...

Oh no...lol. It has it's issues but more from me beating it up on rocks. But the engine is a tractor engine and the trans is from Toyota busses in Japan. It's pretty tough.

Basically anything American from the mid 90s until 2010 was pretty much garbage. How many will be collectible classics in 20 more years?

2019 Jaguar F Pace. Was back in the shop the day after we bought it for a high pressure fuel system (was also leaking). Had multiple oil leaks throughout the one year we owned it. Even the Land Rover loaner car they gave us one time wouldn't go into reverse. Jaguar-Land Rover products are garbage. They earned every bit of that poor reliability stereotype.

Probably why Toyota always teams up with Yamaha to design heads for their engines. The 5VZ, 3RZ, 3S-GTE, 2JZ-GTE... All Yamaha head designs

I believe they designed some heads for supercars, some US Domestic performance cars. Older Ford SHO's were Yamaha engines.

Going to sound crazy, but a lot of the work Yamaha does comes from their sound side. The same tuning that goes into baffling sound equipment for professional level audio can be applied to engines. Make this compressed air wave move like this (what sound is) and the engine not only purrs but it sounds amazing. There's a quote somewhere about Toyoda loving sound above all else in a car, it's why Yamaha has also done a lot of work with Toyota on their Lexus interior and firewall design.

My most unreliable car was a late 1960s Fiat 124 Sport Coupe.
Dual overhead cams (I was an early adopter) but only 2 valves/cylinder.
Fun to drive and they had lots of them at wrecking yards cause it needed parts often.
Once the throttle linkage broke so I tied a cord to the arm on the carburator, it had a hand throttle too for crude cruise control.

My 1979 C 10 Scottsdale Fleetside pickup w/ olds 350 Diesel v8. After purchase (used)
ran ok for about 6 months then started puffing smoke rings out the exhaust. Yup - blown
head gasket. New gaskets at the time were only $30 putting them on was over $1000.
So I talked to a friend who owned a garage about a donor motor. He found me a 72 Olds
Delta 98 with a 350 gas motor in it but it had a bad rear end. I bought the whole running
car for $400. and drove it for 2 months until I got the money to swap engines.
After the gas motor was installed the truck ran good for another 2 years and then started to
blow fusible links in the electrical wiring going to the coil. It would leave you stranded without
notice. I got $1200 for it as a trade in . The truck itself was perfect short bed chevy, Blk w/
red interior 2 wd . Today that same truck with a 350 chevy gas engine would bring well over $5000.
But at the time I was glad to see it go by by.

Least reliable was probably a variety of Jeep XJ and ZJ I owned

Most reliable was a 2001 Pontiac Sunfire. Basically zero creature comforts to fail. I think I put a serpentine belt in it out of caution the entire time I drove it. Drove it all over the country with 220K miles.

My daughter had a 2011 Jeep Patriot. I guess it is their bottom line vehicle. Anyway, that thing was constantly at the dealer for repairs.
