I got this from my godfather for Christmas. It's solar powered and a classic design unlike most of my others.

He has always given me great classic men's essential gifts.

Thank you. The sub, Aquaracer, and Navitimer were gifts. I used to have an Omega Speedy but gave it to a friend for his birthday a couple of years ago and the Carrera lives on my wife's wrist mostly these days. Figure what goes around comes around lol.

Got this Seiko 2628-0040 a few months back and I have really fallen for it. Another vintage watch, from 1981.20200822_142208 (Medium).jpg

Picked up this seiko modded by a guy in Chicago as an Explorer homage with a black mother of pearl dial. Came with a nice bracelet too, but just threw on a nato until I have time to size it.

Edit: I’ve since looked into this brand a bit more and apparently he used to do seiko mods, then started making dials, now has an entire new microbrand of watches. This one is based off one of his previous mods, but is a new watch.

Brand is Alexander James, Model LXP002

Anyone else wear two watches? Apple Watch computer for activity tracking and phone sync and a daily watch for the cool factor of wearing an awesome watch?

my wife thinks I am stupid.

    Lmao at your wife comment.

I don’t think I’ve seen anyone dual wielding watches except for healthcare workers. It would drive me nuts but it’s a rather short trip there anyway.

Today I'm wearing this early smartwatch from G-shock. It still receives bluetooth signal and shows alerts/notifications/call/messages etc, controls music, and has a lost phone feature. I picked it up years ago from @Ostrichsak and have to put a battery in every couple years... Looking at a possible upgrade to a Mudman or gulfmaster with bluetooth connectivity

General Schwarzkopf famously wore a watch on each wrist through the entire Gulf War. One was set to EST and the other was set to local Saudi time.

Anyone here ever get into modding or building watches? Looking for another hobby to blow my money on now that the Tacoma’s done

Seriously though, I need something to keep me busy through the winter, if anyone’s into it at all, let me know, trying to figure out where to get started.

    Obligatory watch pic of course

Made an impulse buy that showed up this week......Islander ISL54, from a NY based micro brand that uses Seiko movements.

Blown away by the value at $189 shipped. Love my Seiko Diver, but it doesn’t fit under long sleeves well and this fit the bill.

    Alexander James LXP002

New microbrand out of Chicago, he started out making seiko mods, this one is based off one of his original Explorer homage mods.

For another pretty one check out his NDR001 Snowflake. That’ll be my next buy.

An Explorer has always been a grail for me, but the more microbrands I find, the more I like them. Feels good to support small mom & pop type operations.

I almost feel like we’re in the middle of a renaissance for small watchmakers, and we’ll see more and more pop up, similar to how craft beers and micro breweries have taken a huge market share from the big brewers.
