Wouldn't mind having 2 overdrives in my tranny as well....dang. But also like RA60's First gear ratio....

    My shit is all stock.
That means that the 2nd gen Tacoma transfer case would bolt right up to the RC62F. That’d be awesome! I’d get to keep my 2lo capability and avoid any wiring snafus. Win.

I think I’m going to locate one of these trannys to play with.

I hear ya there. But, it’s not that much different. I’m betting you’d get used to it within a few days of driving it.

    Hey @Jowett

Do you still have the RC62F out of your truck? If so, or if you know, what is the diameter of the quill? I’m guessing/hoping that it’s the same as the RA60F, but want to be sure.

I crawled all over that site. Can’t find any mention of Toyota applications at all.

    Thank you again.

So, same diameter, but, a bit longer. That’s easy enough. Just need to make a longer spacer to adapt the Tilton hydro bearing then.

Just because I’m potentially switching transmissions doesn’t mean I’m out of the woods with the whole release bearing thing.

There aren't but you had mentioned T56. It would all be adapted. You could always see what Atlas or Marlin has for a Magnum. I think Pirate4x4 forum has good info.

You'd have to have the bell housing adapter from URD.

None of this route is cheap.

I did more digging around. It also seems that the RC62F bell housing could possibly be used to adapt a T56. Would just need to make an adapter plate. But, like you say, not cheap to do the whole job. I already feel a little crazy for even considering a new RC62F. ($3200)

I'm not sure if the 1GR and 2GRFKS have the same bolt pattern.

I don’t know for absolutely sure that they do either. I thought that I’d read a post by @Jeff Lange that said that the fks in the Tacoma was in fact the same bolt pattern as the 1gr. He seems pretty knowledgeable about this sort of thing. I suppose there’s other ways to find out for sure though.

I stood under a couple of these trucks today and had a good long look. It's the same pattern.

    So, I ordered a tranny.

    We're gonna see...

@BillDaCat8 you're ordering the rc62f out of the 3rd gen trucks, correct?

    Excellent! This is good stuff.

I'll probably have my RC62F available at some point.... will need the bellhousing and bearing support/quill.

The only downfall of the RC62 is the 3.38 reverse gear ratio, vs the 3.67 in the RA. The 60 and 61 variants take care of that plus the .64 6th.
